Boys name inspiration needed! A sibling for Cosmo ……

We?re due in late Jan/early Feb and we?re pretty sure (although not 100%) that it?s a boy. My husband and I agree on girls names 100%, but with boys ? not so much! Our little 18 month old boy is Cosmo, so we want a name that goes well with this. On my shortlist, (not necessarily my husbands though!) are:

Etienne
Stellan
Constantin
Iggy
Wolfie
Luca

Does anyone have any ideas of a good, kind-of-unique, strong name that would suit? I?ve gone through all sorts of lists looking for inspiration but feel I?ve looked EVERYWHERE now! All ideas are welcome!

Thanks.

Cosmo and Constantin are great names - love them both. But your boys would share the same initial.
How about Quentin or Monty or even Fabian?

Etienne and Luca sound feminine to my ears, sorry and I don't like Wolfgang nickname Wolfie at all.

Floggingmolly · 22/11/2012 19:33

Not Wolfie. Really, not Wolfie.

almapudden · 22/11/2012 19:43

I like Stellan and Constantin.

Also like suggestions of Bruno and Sholto.

Chatto? Lorimer?

Ignatius is a good long version of Iggy.

Anjou · 22/11/2012 20:13

LOVE Spike but, like Wolfie Iggy & Ziggy, I'd like it to be the nickname of something more formal/longer so that he has a choice. Problem is, I really don?t like Wolfgang, Ignatious or Sigmund/Siegfried. Sigurjohn (?Seegeryon? phonetically) is nice, but a bit of a mouthful. And we?re not Scandinavian. What could Spike be short for, I wonder?!

Bruno is also nice, Bonsoir. Cosmo comes from Greek and Italian, but is also used in Russia and Scotland. However, pairing it with Bruno definitely Italianises it. Love Italy, but we?re not Italian! Also, I think we'll have to shy away from any name ending in ?o?. Certainly 2 syllable ones. Just might be odd having ?Cosmo & __o?. Shame, as I really like Milo, Hugo, Nico, Miro, & Ludo, (Ludovico is a real fave).

Good point about the English pronunciation of Inigo, EC. Also, Ivo is nice, and I?ve not heard that before. Ends in ?o? & 2 syllables again though! I like Ivar, which is similar, but it?s a good friends name.

I don?t mind them both having the same initial, Lebkuchenlover. I?d be concerned if the names were similar ? Harry and Henry, or Emma & Ellie for example. I think Cosmo & Constantin have a flow thats different enough from each other, if you know what I mean. And I like Fabian too but, again, its a friends name!

Some great names are coming up though, thanks to all of you! I've had more inspiration from you guys today than in the last 2 months!

More good suggestions. Thanks! Yep, Stellan is just wonderful but, like I posted earlier, I'm just not sure about it with Cosmo ..... does it sound too space-themed?! Maybe it's just me that thinks that, as I always focus on the meaning/etymology of names. What does everyone else think of them together? Confused

i think Cosmo and Stellan sound really good together, but from your list i would choose Constantin. it's got the same international feeling as Cosmo - and i like both Stan and Con as nicknames, whereas i am not as keen on Stell or Stelly.

BrightenMyNorthernSky · 22/11/2012 20:53

Cosmo & Magnus?

BrightenMyNorthernSky · 22/11/2012 20:56

And yes, I see what you mean about the space theme with Cosmo & Stellan (although like Stellan a lot). Not that that is necessarily a bad thing!

StillSquiffy · 22/11/2012 21:05

Cassius, Benedict, Seb.

Hugo

Anjou · 22/11/2012 21:08

Glad you think that Constantin has an International ring to it, Baskingseals. That's what I think; International without being necessarily fixed to one nation in particular.

I like Magnus, very much but unfortunately we names one of my little boys toys Magnus when he was born, which was a little short sighted of us!

2 other names form my original shortlist that I forgot to put are Kirill and Atticus. Atticus is so lovely, but - for me - so linked to To Kill A Mockingbird that I can't really get past it.

This is probably no help at all, but, I know a lovely Cosmo with a big brother called Caspar.

I love Stellan too.

Cosmo and Stellan is a bit too much of a cosmos and stars theme for me.

The only names I like from your list are Constantin and Kirill.

Would you consider:
Stanislas/Stanislav
Cornelius
Julius
Conrad

Clement
Casimir
Otto
Anatole

Anton
Damien
Gregor
Lev

Marat
Ruslan
Roman
Stepan

Lazar
Milan
Vaughn
Ludovic

Isadore

Timur
