Is it a lovely name? Never mind mentioning the TV programme as that won't matter in a year or so.

Not keen

lottiegarbanzo · 24/09/2012 19:01

Yes, it's lovely and its Shakespearian connection will outlive Ms Hart (though she's lovely too).

scarlettsmummy2 · 24/09/2012 19:02

Not fussed. Not awful but have heard nicer.

picnicbasketcase · 24/09/2012 19:03

I think it's rather soppy.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 24/09/2012 19:05

I like it me!

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 24/09/2012 19:05

I luffs it.

guanosoup · 24/09/2012 19:07

I like it, for the sheakspearian connection, and a I know two women called Miranda, and they are both lovely women.
So good connotations all round for me!

StellaNova · 24/09/2012 19:11

My little sister had a doll called Miranda that she used to shorten to Randy....

But the name as it stands is pretty.

LaGuerta · 24/09/2012 19:14

Yes. It is up there on the "top 5 names I would give a hypothetical DD" list.

Dogsmom · 24/09/2012 19:16

I'm not keen, maybe because the only one I ever knew was the school bully.

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 24/09/2012 19:19

I have one. Nobody ever shortens her name to anything dodgy and it's a great strong name. Mine is 14 and we once met one about 3 years younger but it is rare.

YouMayLogOut · 24/09/2012 19:20

Lovely name, very pretty.

Mintyy · 24/09/2012 19:23

Lovely strong name.

birdofthenorth · 24/09/2012 19:23

I think Sex & The City and then Ms Hart before Shakespeare. Bit frilly for me and the fear of ever being nicknamed Randy might put me off but I can see why people love it and the other potential nns -Mirrie, Mimi, Mandy- are nice.

Japple · 24/09/2012 20:19

...as in, "He's going to Read you your Miranda Rights...". Sounds a little on the
"Arresting" side to us.When you say the word "Miranda" over here...Everyone
Jumps.

coffeeandcream · 24/09/2012 20:21

I like it, one of The Bard's more 'normal' names.

Mintyy · 24/09/2012 20:40

I adore the name Viola. Wish I had chosen it for dd now.

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 24/09/2012 22:52

Viola is lovely. If I had a fourth dd I think I'd go for that. No more babies here though! So we'll stick with Miranda, Rosalind and Beatrice (spot the connection - it's not hard!)

emmyloo2 · 24/09/2012 22:54

I love it. I went to uni with a Miranda and she went by Mandy. I always thought it was lovely.

No

KitchenandJumble · 24/09/2012 23:12

I love it. In addition to the Shakespearean connection, it's also the name of a character in Antonia Forest's novels which makes it more than O.K. in my book. I like Mira as a nickname.

Narked · 25/09/2012 00:10

No. It's a terrible name. No one should ever use it. Ever. At all.

(want to use it if I have another girl and don't want it to get popular)

Mmmnotsure · 25/09/2012 00:19

The best girl's name, ever. (Sorry, narked.)

showtunesgirl · 25/09/2012 00:23

Not one of my favourite Shakesperean heroines so I would not use it. I find her character a bit sappy. Give me Beatrice instead any day of the week!
