We're still seeking inspiration. Can you give me your absolute favourite girls name - just one - never min whether it goes with siblings or surname or is too posh or dh doesn't like it. I'd just love to know everyone's favourite. Maybe we'll be inspired.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Tess, not Tessa, just Tess.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/09/2012 14:54

Lydia.

Have two boys (both with lovely names) and won't have any more DC, so I'll never use it. Better get a female cat!

ALL vetoed by ex for dd. it's ok though I love her name.

Elena (meaning light, from Greek or Italian)
Also my mum's name Smile
Lucia (also meaning light)
Ella (my DD)
Sophia (her middle name)

Shona - LOVE but would prob never use
Thea - love, may use
Emily - love but friend had a cat we called Emily pin head so just cannot use!
Renae - love but think needs to go with more unsual surname than ours
Amy - current most-likely-to-use-if-we-have-a-DD name. Family connection, its poss bit 'safe'? but suits any age, easy to say/spell etc
Megan - really liking this lately

mammanetta · 19/09/2012 15:02

sorry, just one: would have to be Elena then

MrsJohnDeere · 19/09/2012 15:04

Anya is my most fave.

I have 2 DS's and have never had to think seriously about girl's names!

Bridget. I'm glad DC2 turned out to be a boy as we'd already used up my favourite girls name on DD Smile

GoldandOrangeAnnunziata · 19/09/2012 15:16

Maria/ Mary

lilibet · 19/09/2012 15:17

Elizabeth

Nn

Liz
Lizzy
Eliza
Beth
Betty
Betsy
Libby
Liza
Lilibet
Queenie

And so many more

And it is ageless

No one ever looks at the name Elizabeth or hears of someone called Elizabeth and thinks "oh yes, child of the sixties/seventies/eighties" (that's why I hate my name - soon as you hear it you know how old I am to a couple of years)

how can you not love it?

VikingVagine · 19/09/2012 15:24

Hannah

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 19/09/2012 15:26

Yolanda

SophySinclair · 19/09/2012 15:30

Madeleine, which DH vetoed as Madeleine McCann was still very much in the news.

GreenShadow · 19/09/2012 15:31

It's changed over the years (as as child always wanted to call a daughter Nicola which I now don't particular like)
But over last few years, always rather liked the milder Puritan type names -
Faith
Hope
Grace

ilovesprouts · 19/09/2012 15:32

sophie /olivia

Junebugjr · 19/09/2012 15:32

Violet - named dd this. Loved it.

JustSpiro · 19/09/2012 15:33

Sprouts - that's my DD!

IndiaJade · 19/09/2012 15:34

Ex-H wouldn't agree to use my favourite girls names for our DD unfortunately.

They are: Octavia (one of our chickens got this name)
Tess (this name went to the dog)
Tallulah, Tabitha and Anastasia

DD says why didn't we call her Phoebe, it is the most beautiful name in the world?

DisappointedHorse · 19/09/2012 15:38

Frances or Hilary.
