We're still seeking inspiration. Can you give me your absolute favourite girls name - just one - never min whether it goes with siblings or surname or is too posh or dh doesn't like it. I'd just love to know everyone's favourite. Maybe we'll be inspired.

Unfortunately other people will shorten them and the DC themselves may well do-you have no control.

I can't chose one because I have 2 dd's and couldn't chose between their names. But glad to see their names, plus their middle names, my name, my middle name and the names of both my nieces are all on this list!

I've lots of favourites but most have been mentioned by others; here's one I like that hasn't: Melanie.

MoChan · 20/09/2012 11:35

(Melanie would be dreadful with our surnames though, so would not use it myself; DD is Cecily).

Think Robbie Williams chose well with Theodora and Rose.

Emilia is lovely too - used to like Amelia but that' become very fashionable....

101handbags · 20/09/2012 12:15

I think I meant that I wouldn't shorten them when addressing them. I have friends called, let's say Nicky, Dave etc. but their parents still call them David, Nicola etc.

I know what you mean, 101. My name is Emily, most everyone shortens it but my parents very rarely do, if ever. And I still know I'm in trouble if I get called the middle name as well :o
