Do you want another American baby named Madison? DOOOO you?

Well then, come help me. :o (Only joking btw, I don't like the name Madison a'tall)

But! I am having a baby! And it's very early days and we're not really telling anyone, and DH is saying we must be cautious, but I don't really do cautious, you see.

Plus, it will take forever for us to hammer out a name, so it's best to start early. Here are all the names we've ever liked, I think. Feel free to throw in suggestions! Oh, and we have one DS who is Samuel Robert.

BOYS:

Charles, called Charlie probably
Nathaniel/Nathan (would most likely end up getting Nate)
William
Alexander (DH loves, I think is ok. I do like Alec; I know sooo many little Alex's)
Jack (not nearly as popular here. My favorite but harsh with our last name)
Rhys

For boy's middles we like Frederick (my dear late Grandfather), James (FIL), Dawson (lots of Dawsons in my family tree, but not for a few generations)...I also kind of like the idea of a Frederick Alexander called Rex for short. (Red + Alex = Rex in my book :o)

GIRLS:

Eleanora (DH's grandmother. Lovely, but so many El names around!)
Caroline
Frances
Louisa
Elizabeth
I also love Annie Rose, but short for something like Susannah Rosamund. I actually love that combination (MIL is Suzanne) but SR are also DS's initials.

For girls' middles I like Rose, which I know is very popular, but my grandfather grew them and I love roses as they make me think of him. I also like Josephine, as a nod to my mother who is Jody.

Thanks for reading my mega-post, throw your thoughts at me! :)

Susannah Josephine is pretty, nooka. :) I'll have to think about that one.

DH has decided to throw Rosalind into the mix...I'm not crazy about it.

Yay CheerfulYank!

CheerfulYank · 18/09/2012 19:28

Thanks Scout. :)

Love Louisa. Elizabeth and Annie also great.

Nathaniel is a lovely name. Classy but not over used.

CheerfulYank · 20/09/2012 16:19

Thank you! Is Nathaniel too close to Samuel, though?

Of course they would be called Nate and Sam most of the time anyway...

Nate is a gorgeous name- you must use it. Like the character in Six Feet Under

fedupofnamechanging · 21/09/2012 09:48

I have a Max and an Alexander, so am clearly biased. From your choices, I would probably go with Alexander Frederick or Alexander James.

Caroline is a beautiful name, too. I am also quite partial to Seren (Welsh name), Carys (also Welsh) and Lara.

Congratulations on your pg x

CheerfulYank · 21/09/2012 16:06

I do like Alexander, Karma but I know at least eight under the age of ten. DS would end up being Alex B all the time. :)

Fair enough. I also really liked Nathaniel from your list. It would have been on my shortlist for one of my boys, but sadly it didn't go with my last name.

CheerfulYank · 21/09/2012 19:11

Do you think it's too much like Samuel? Again, they would most likely be called Sam and Nate most of the time anyway... :)

You've got a pretty good list there yank.

I love the name Eleanor but my dps stupid ex is called that so I can't have it. It's lovely.

fedupofnamechanging · 21/09/2012 19:18

I don't think they are too similar. And, as you say, they would be called Sam and Nate most of the time, anyway.

CheerfulYank · 21/09/2012 19:21

Thank you Pickles! :)

I am giving more thought to Susannah Josephine as per Nooka's suggestion. Would probably end up calling her Annie, though. And I've got a cousin called Anne/Annie, though we don't see her often...

My last name sounds like...well, it...oh, let's just say it's the same as a certain "writer" who thinks she's dead gorgeous. :) And it's also what one might use to build a wall. :o

I like most of the names on your list and you have name checked most of my extended family too, including me. Albeit with different spellings on some of them.

I've said it on another thread but congratulations again, I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy cheerful yank

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 21/09/2012 19:30

Again love Annie. Lovely!

I am in a state of pregnancy too. My favourites at the moment are Alice Elizabeth & Benjamin Rhys.

They change though.

gomummygone · 21/09/2012 19:47

For some reason I love the sound of Amelia with your surname. No idea where that comes from though.

All of your names are great, my favourites are Annie and Jack, but also get what you are saying about surname thing. Same might happen if Charles ended up getting called Chuck?

Loving Benjamin Rhys.

CheerfulYank · 21/09/2012 19:50

I love Amelia GoMummy, but a good friend is due to give birth any day to a little girl who will be called that. So it's out! Also like Aurelia, but don't know if it would be too out there for some?

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 21/09/2012 19:50

Or Aurora, called Rory? :)

OP posts:
DamnTheManSaveTheEmpire · 21/09/2012 21:51

I really like Dawson as a first name.

CheerfulYank · 21/09/2012 21:54

I do too, but I'm afraid it's too out there with Sam. Thoughts?

OP posts:
gomummygone · 21/09/2012 22:33

Aurora sounds beautiful to me. Reminds me of the lights in the winter.

I also like your Frances, which I missed the first time through.

DamnTheManSaveTheEmpire · 21/09/2012 22:39

No not at all too out there. It sounds like a wholesome solid name to me.

CheerfulYank · 22/09/2012 00:12

UPDATE!

Lovely SIL has just given birth to a baby girl, named either (details are hazy) Ella or Ellie.

So that puts paid to Eleanora and Elizabeth for me, I think! :)

Nathaniel Frederick

Louisa Rose

Sorted. Your DS has the same first name as mine, so I must be right! Frederick was our boy's name for DD.
