I love both of these - just wonder if Rufus a bit 'posh' - we are not! (and we don't have red hair but that doesn't bother me). Opinions very welcome.

VolAuVent · 18/07/2012 14:59

Both fabulous names :) I think today I'd go for Henry.

MammaTonic · 18/07/2012 15:36

Rufus - one of my favourite boys names :)

Henry

Rufus, but am a fan of both.

Stellan · 18/07/2012 16:36

I like both.

Rufus stands out more - you don't come across many - so if you're the shy, retiring sort, you might want to pick Henry.

PepperOnMyPaprikash · 18/07/2012 18:36

Thanks all - the opinions seems fairly 50/50.

I think my heart is saying Rufus and my head is saying Henry. We still have a few months to go so I will no doubt spend that time wobbling between the two!

Rufus is a great name for a dog.

barbie1 · 18/07/2012 18:40

Ds is a Henry so definitely the best choice Wink

rufus5 · 18/07/2012 18:41

Rufus, naturally!! Grin

henryhsmum · 18/07/2012 19:07

Henry, great timeless classic name. To me, Rufus is a pet name - my cat is Rufus!

JennyPiccolo · 18/07/2012 19:11

Both are really cute but a little bit silly, imo.

Mama1980 · 18/07/2012 19:12

Henry. I also like rufus but knew a horrible one at uni so for me that would be a no

PepperOnMyPaprikash · 18/07/2012 20:03

Jenny - silly? why?

Like the sort of name that suits a child more than an adult. Not explaining myself very well really.

MoonHare · 18/07/2012 20:45

Loads of Henrys but not many called Rufus. I prefer Rufus. To my ear Henry is posher than Rufus.

Leeds2 · 18/07/2012 20:57

Henry.

"Rufus stands out more - you don't come across many - so if you're the shy, retiring sort, you might want to pick Henry."

In my opinion the person makes the name, not the other way round. So if you are a shy introverted Rufus then that is what people associate with the name, not the other way round.

Personally I find Henry/Harry a little dull and overused and would choose Rufus.

sonniboo · 18/07/2012 22:06

Is that good or bad Confused?

allagory · 18/07/2012 22:12

I would always expect a Rufus to have red hair (which is what the name means). I wouldn't expect a child who wasn't a redhead to have the name.

exoticfruits · 18/07/2012 22:28

No contest - Henry.
