we have a longish surname so 1 or 2 syllables sounds best. Suggestions could be pretty 'way out' or maybe classic but under-used. Coco is on my list and love blythe and posey but for various reason can't have these last two. Help me add to my list please!

Ooh, and Ava.

OK, so you're not Kirstie Allsopp - are you one of her sisters? Sofie? Grin

When I read your title I was going to suggest Posy, but see that's a no-no.

I would also add another vote for Ivy or Iris.

I had a great aunt Isa...? She was a lovely Welsh lady. Pronounced Eye-zah.

My DD is Robin. I also liked:

On your list Rose and Honor.
On the out there list - know a girl named Ishtar which I think is one of the classical godesses.

Kirsty? I am biased, it's my dd's name, classic but not used much for her generation.

Or I quite like Zara. But I am soooo old, not having any more babies. Smile

Frikadellen · 06/07/2012 19:16

how do you pronounce that frikadellen Ea

It is not a very common name TheEnthusiasticTroll it was my late and much loved aunts name and means Fire and is Celtic when I was a girl it was 1 of only 2 girls names that only had 2 letters in it so was often used in crosswords (Jo being the other) I am sure that has changed.

I am very poor with phonics but will give it my best eh-ah, is likely the closest but imagine the "eh sound going into the ah sound so they are pronounced almost together not 2 different sounds more worked into each other.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 06/07/2012 19:30

sorry didnt mean to sound quite so insensative.

it is a nice name but I would imagine it is best carried of with am irish or scottish accent.
