Which do you prefer, is Leonora a bit much? Aurora too disney? Any opinions would help loads, thanks.

I like Leonora, I don't like aurora but maybe it's because it reminds me of a not very nice relative of mine.

foxeeroxee · 25/06/2012 20:31

i love aurora, it was on my list for dd.

moonblushtomato · 25/06/2012 20:32

Both very very beautiful!

Love the shortened versions too Leo for Leonora and Rory for Aurora.

SaliFourth · 25/06/2012 20:33

Both lovely; other nns Nora, Lennie.

lapsedorienteerer · 25/06/2012 20:34

Prefer Leonora. All I can think of with Aurora is Aurora BorealisBlush.

Thanks for the replies, have tried out Leonora on a few people today and was met with stony silence so thought maybe it's a bit ott... not sure.

Aurora I think is more popular but I'm not keen on Rory as a nickname and is it very slightly hard to say? Or is that just me!

Lea / Nora / Lena etc appeal more as nicknames. I'm so indecisive. I've did consider Lara and Laura but both not quite it.

Leonora without a doubt

Guava · 25/06/2012 20:40

I prefer Aurora. It's very pretty and I'm not interested in Disney anyway. The Aurora Borealis is a lovely connection too.

Leonora is too liony.

nbee84 · 25/06/2012 20:41

Aurora is Disney to me. Leonora not sure of - but I do like Leora.

Lannie33 · 26/06/2012 02:28

Aurora nicer but a bit of a mouthful. What about Alora?

Tessa617 · 26/06/2012 02:34

To further confuse you, I have a friend with a DD who is Anora. Thought it was weird at first, but like all weird names, now it seems normal. Of Leonora and Aurora I prefer Aurora (but it is quite diff to pronounce).

WelshRabbit · 26/06/2012 02:45

I prefer Aurora, it is really pretty. Leonora makes me think of fabric softener Lenor, sorry!

randomimposter · 26/06/2012 08:55

prefer Aurora, but Aurelia even more. Or Lara (which I see you have discounted). Leonora does remind me of Lenor I'm afraid :(

TheWave · 26/06/2012 10:05

Leonora lovely. Aurora I find a little awkward to say.

ScorpionQueen · 26/06/2012 10:20

I love Aurora, but prefer the French Aurore. :)

smokeandglitter · 26/06/2012 10:24

Aurora.

It's lovely.

Wildwaterfalls · 26/06/2012 10:27

I like Leonora and love Nora or Lena as nicknames. Especially Lena. Could be a name by itself even?

RantyMcRantpants · 26/06/2012 11:14

Aurora is the definate winner, but then I am biased :)

Ephiny · 26/06/2012 11:23

I like Leonora, also love Leona and Leora.

No idea about Disney, but I also find Aurora a bit awkward to say.

cumbria81 · 26/06/2012 12:17

Aurora is nice but quite hard on the tongue

Cant stand Leonora, I'm afraid

Madly · 26/06/2012 16:44

Leonora is just beautiful! Aurora too is a lovely name but Leonora is perfect!
Easy to spell and pronounce so no complications there. Wonderfully universal so travels well. Rarely used so no risk of 3 others in class!
Classic, timeless & lovely in every way Smile

PercyFilth · 26/06/2012 18:09

Not normally a fan of place names as names, but have always fancied Andorra as a name. :o Could be disguised as Andora.

Stellan · 26/06/2012 21:10

Leonora.

Aurora looks very pretty and has some nice associations. However, I find it a bit tricky to pronounce clearly and imagine it'd be impossible for most children.

How about Isadora, Cora, Coralie, Norah, Maura, Leonie, Eleanor, Eleanora, Dora, Flora, Georgia, Audrey, Aubrey, Autumn, Laura, Lauren, Aurelia?
