Rose Gordon too much like 'rose garden'?

I have another discussion going on about the name Lilibet (which I LOVE but everyone hates) but also want to get opinions on Rose.

So I love the name Rose almost as much as Lilibet - but the surname is Gordon

Does Rose Gordon work, or will everyone say 'oh as in rose garden'?!

Too close I think.

Now I have the song stuck in my head, sung in a terrible Spanish accent like the singer in our hotel in the Canaries. Not helping, sorry.

Napdamnyou · 19/06/2012 13:04

Sorry think it sounds like rose garden.
Middle name?
Elizabeth Rose?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 13:06

Yes Elizabeth Rose Gordon NN Lillibet. 'tis the queens NN.

jaffacakehips · 19/06/2012 13:08

Agree with Procrastination

Napdamnyou · 19/06/2012 13:08

Yes and when she is grown up or a teen she can be Beth, Lizzie, Lissa, Liz, Eliza, or Elizabeth. Or Lilibet if she doesn't mind.

MacMac123 · 19/06/2012 13:08

I am beginnign to like Elizabeth Rose Garden, sorry Gordon!
But I prefer Lilibet Rose Gordon!!! (uh oh bringing the other post into this one!)

Imagine her applying for work experience as Lilibet.
Or asking for a loan for her start up business.
Nah....

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 13:10

Yeah, but you'd just call her Lilibet. Surely? Elizabeth would just give her options if she wants them later.

badtime · 19/06/2012 13:11

Rosa?

MacMac123 · 19/06/2012 13:24

ok we're back on the Lilibet topic and I really want to find out how many people think Rose Gordon is too like rose garden!
However, I think applying for a loan or starting a business with the name Lilibet is the same as applying for a loan or starting a business with the name Kitty or Maisie or Coco.

What do people think of Coco btw?! I used to like it but have gone off it. Reminds me of coco the clown (as opposed to Coco Chanel!)

rose gordon = rose garden. Yes.

Coco is a nickname, very sweet and I'm not against nicnames as 'proper' names per se, but, in this case, no.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 19/06/2012 13:53

Rose Gordon is too close, I'm afraid... what about Rosa?

The perfect solution is Elizabeth Rose - you really don't have to use Elizabeth for any other occasion than the birth certificate, but it just gives her a lot more options.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 19/06/2012 13:54

Also not convinced by CoCo - again very much a nickname name to me. Could be a pet name for Chloe perhaps?

jaffacakehips · 19/06/2012 14:00

Lillibet is a pet name, IMO Elizabeth or Eliza would be better on BC. Or call her Lilly nn Lillibet?

What about Rosanna Gordon?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 19/06/2012 14:15

I beg your pardon
I never promised you a Rose, Gordon

(yes too close :o)

saoifre · 19/06/2012 20:35

well, now you mention it...

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/06/2012 20:41

Yes, it is too much like rose garden.

You know what you have to do though. Have a boy. Call him Flash.

MacMac123 · 19/06/2012 20:48

I've got a boy and call I did think about calling him Flash. But my OH (thankfully) vetoed it!

Coco pops, yuck, sorry.

rose lovely, Rose Gordon, mmmm, too close.

Alice Rose Gordon?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 21:39

Oh heck, what if she ever when to live in the black country Rose Gordon would be indistinguishable from Rose Garden in my mates accent. If only I could remember where exactly she was from originally. Not Birmingham but not far away.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 19/06/2012 21:40

walsal. that was it. See? You all needed to know that, didn't you? Hmm

MacMac123 · 19/06/2012 21:42

Ah yes, hadn't considered regional accents.

OP posts:
CharlotteLucas · 19/06/2012 21:54

In my native accent, it would sound like someone trying to sound posh while saying 'rose garden' Grin.

StepOutOfSpring · 19/06/2012 23:51

Lilliana Bethany - Lillibet as nickname?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 20/06/2012 00:16

Now that is most excellent constructive thinking SOOS. Love it!

Lilliana Bethany Gordon - Lillibet

Maybe you could call her first special cuddly Rose? It's such a beautiful name and you'll never be able to use it.

All the fuss in the world isn't going to make you adore Elizabeth, how ever much MN does Wink
