Baby no 3 is on its way, we already have a Matty and an Eloise, I want something pretty and feminine for a girl. Middle name will be Elizabeth which is a family name.

Beautiful! Smile

takingiteasy · 16/06/2012 22:53

I think it's a lovely name. I used to work in a call centre next to one and for some reason I recall older customers mentioning a car - was that an old tv show or somethin?

YankNCock · 16/06/2012 22:57

went to school with one, she was a good friend. Loved her name, thought it was so unusual. She went by Genny most of the time though.

Staceisace · 16/06/2012 22:57

I like it - plenty of nn opportunities for her when she's older too although I guess if she gets 'gen/jen' it might seem as though her name's Jennifer.

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/06/2012 22:59

lovely. Our BF has a daughter called Genevieve, lovely name. BTW its also a car in a 1940s comedy!

WithACherryOnTop · 16/06/2012 22:59

It's beautiful. One of my favourite names.

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/06/2012 23:01

ha ha takingit its a film where the car is called Genevieve. From the 40's a bit like Buster Keaton. I think they drive 'her' from London to Brighton

besmirchedandbewildered · 16/06/2012 23:03

I think it's lovely :)

StepOutOfSpring · 16/06/2012 23:06

Not keen personally, a bit "out there" for me. But if you love it, use it!

PrisonerOfWaugh · 16/06/2012 23:06

I love it, was on my list. Loved the nickname Vivi too

5madthings · 16/06/2012 23:06

we had this a possibility for our dd, we really LOVE it as a name but were put off by the fact that in all likelihood it WOULD be shortened to gen/genny and i really dont like those names, i would like to shorten it to eve/evie, or even just vee.

its a really lovely name tho, so if you dont mind the shortenings then use it :)

snice · 16/06/2012 23:12

the film is from the 1960s with Kenneth More and Kay Kendall-they're doing the London to Brighton run

snice · 16/06/2012 23:13

sorry-1950s

JazzAnnNonMouse · 17/06/2012 01:06

Love it!!!! Grin

FairLadyRantALot · 17/06/2012 01:09

Totally LOVE that name it is beautiful :)

Devora · 17/06/2012 01:19

Personally, I'm not overkeen on ultra-feminine names. I like Jenny, though. Or Josephine.

Tortington · 17/06/2012 01:39

love it

i met one - she's lovely

Lunarlyte · 17/06/2012 07:42

Just gorgeous, and fairly unusual. Goes really well with Matty and Eloise, too :)

SizzleSazz · 17/06/2012 07:44

I know one shortened to vivi too. Very pretty but the film is dire Grin

chocoroo · 17/06/2012 07:45

I've warmed to it. DP loves it so it'll be on our list should we decide on number 2.

Stellan · 17/06/2012 09:29

How are you pronouncing it?

zhe-nuh-VYEV sounds exotic and new.

JEN-uh-veev sounds like mum and dad really wanted the nickname Jen but thought Jennifer was too dated.

Pretty much every name with 3 or more syllables will be shortened unless you consciously make an effort not to (allow people to) so, unless you like Gen/Jen, I wouldn't bother.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 17/06/2012 09:47

Beautiful, classic name.

randomimposter · 17/06/2012 10:09

Love it, my mum was a Genevieve.
her family called her Vievie, my dad Genny, her friends Gen.

nizlopi · 17/06/2012 10:13

I really really don't like it. Plus that with Elizabeth means that her name will be more than 20 letters long with your surname. What a mouthful!

AdventuresWithVoles · 17/06/2012 10:42

thumbs up from me :). But Niz is right in saying it's long, I would use NN a lot (Ginny).
