The names I hear all the time are:

Isabella
Sophia
Evie
Olivia

Thomas
Charlie
Henry
Jack

What are yours? I thought 4 was a good number to avoid those really long lists!

(FWIW I love all of these names, I'm just interested in local trends)

Harry

Ella (etc)
Imogen
Isobel (etc)
Edie

There are some lovely names above that we shortlisted for DD, but I'm feeling smug as her name isn't above Grin

ghosteditor · 16/06/2012 23:01

Actually wait, I want to swap Edie for Sophie/Sophia

perceptionreality · 16/06/2012 23:04

I have an Isabella but where I live it isn't hugely common - sounds like it is everywhere else though! I could see it was in the top 30 though when I picked it.

Names I hear all the time here:

Grace

Wurzel?

(still recovering from this on page 1)

StetsonsAreCool · 26/06/2012 23:26

Hmm... under the age of 3, I know more than one

Noah
Elliott
Nate
Jacob

Bella - 7! of different varieties, including Isabel/la Annabel/la and a Bellatrix
Poppy
Olivia
Elsa

Closely followed by Freya and Ava

The girls overlap way more than boys too. After Bella, I know of 3 or 4 of the names mentioned (including nationwide friends).

kerala · 27/06/2012 12:27

Eve/Evie/Eva (one third of girls in DDs class named a variant of this)
Lily
Sophie/a
Isabel/Isabella/Isabella etc
Grace

Ben
Oliver
Archie
Josh

Think there should be an announcement to new parents that these names are now full and they should choose others. There are plenty of perfectly decent names mouldering away why does everyone pick the same ones?! [baffled]

thunksheadontable · 27/06/2012 12:34

Boys

Sam/Samuel
Jack
Joe
Isaac

Girls
Eva/Evie/Eve/Ava
Emily

tammytoby · 27/06/2012 12:56

Archie/Alfie/Charlie/Harry
Finn/Fin
Oliver/Oscar

Eve/Eva/Evie
Ellie/Ella/Elle
Lily/Molly/Grace

are all VERY popular round here.

Actually, you could just look at the ONS lists of baby names during the past years, you'd get a similar list. I think they even provide a regional breakdown.

festivalwidow · 27/06/2012 13:09

I was in the park (South East) recently: someone shouted 'Maya! Time to go home!' and eight girls turned around. Grin

BabyStone · 14/07/2012 22:01

I work in a nursery in Ashford, Kent most common/popular names are

Boys- Harvey, Hayden/Jayden and Charlie (also for a girl)

It really doesnt help with giving me ideas for my own names (I don't want the same name as any child I already know)
