The names I hear all the time are:

Isabella
Sophia
Evie
Olivia

Thomas
Charlie
Henry
Jack

What are yours? I thought 4 was a good number to avoid those really long lists!

(FWIW I love all of these names, I'm just interested in local trends)

We're in London

Boys-
Mohammed (by a mile - DS has five in his year)
Jamal
Rayanne/Riyan
Dion

Girls-
Bizarre made up names often based on consumer brands or natural phenomena eg Chanel, Cheyenne, Chanterelle, JayCeeJay, TrayCee, Rainbow, LeafPixie etc. (I think my judgey pants are showing... but there aren't any common names, as they are all.... quite unique)

chaya5738 · 14/06/2012 11:40

becstarsky - LeafPixie! I love it. I want to move to your neighbourhood!

BuntyPenfold · 14/06/2012 11:43

Interesting becstarsky - your London list is the only really different one.

In Devon:

Evie/Evelyn/Eva/Ava - top of the choices by a very long way
Mabel
Ellie
Lily

Aidan
Henry
Jack
Jayden

Buntingbunny · 14/06/2012 11:46

Newest baby here is Alfie too!

becstarsky · 14/06/2012 11:49

London is so different to the rest of the UK isn't it? Also DS is in state primary in an area where it's all pretty 'real'!

My DS has one of the names that are very common in the rest of the UK above - he's the only kid in his class who speaks English as a first language. I was buying a raffle ticket off a Year 6 kid at his primary. I gave her DS' first name for the ticket stub and said 'And do you need his class name and surname?'. She grinned and said 'Nah, he's the only DSNAME at this school, darlin', trust me!'. Very funny, cos if we moved to any of the areas above, he'd be one of a whole bunch of DSNAMEs in his class.
