Henry, Harry or Harvey

Straw poll please which you prefer and why ?

Thinking of Thomas for a middle name.

Henry, because a Henry can be called Harry. So he has a choice and you have the best of bothe worlds.

Katie Price has a Harvey. I shall say no more on the matter.

Sorry should have been clearer - i really don't want to use a name that is different to birth certificate (work in hospital - leads to so much confusion !) do you prefer henry or harry ?

I really like Harvey but yes the katie price thing does put me off!

Why are Henry's called Harry? It's hardly a shorter nickname.

And generally nicknames end up being nothing like what's on the birth certificate. So you might end up affectionately calling a Henry Harry as it's one of the potential nicknames. Equally you might end up calling him CaptainCornbeefLegs. That's the beauty of nicknames. I certainly didn't christen my dc SquigsyJoe and Raftamouse.

But yes to Henry.

Kayz, Harry is just how Henry would have been pronounced in medieval England. So it's not shortening it, just a throwback to an old way of pronouncing it.

Ah right. It's always confused me why Prince Harry is actually Henry.

Henry as Henry can be Harry. Never Harvey.

I have a Harvey but he is nearly 15 so he was named pre Katie price! He has always been the only one in his class since preschool and is curreyntly one of 2 in the whole secondary school. :)

Henry is a little too 'posh' for me and Harvey is at the opposite end of the spectrum!

Too easy to make Harvey 'arvey and Harry 'arry. Go for Henry, good solid name.

Harvey is lovely, but too strongly associated with Katie Price in my mind.

I really liked Harry when pregnant, and still do, but am glad we didn't use it as every second little boy I meet at the moment is called Harry.

Harvey isn't terrible but not really my thing.

My dog is Harvey so to me it's a dogs name, not a Childs

Definitely Henry! As previously mentioned Harry is a recognized nn. for Henry so if you decide at a later stage you prefer Harry then you can call him that! Not keen on Harvey at all...

Not keen on any but like Harvey the least. I know one in RL and he's a sweet kid, just find the name a bit cartoonish.

Henry, though I too love SquigsyJoe . I don't loathe Harvey though -- it's not a trendy name to me as I have an older cousin Harvey who is part of a very soberly named family. I really don't like nicknames on birth certificates, so would never go for Harry except as a Henry nickname (I realise we don't agree there!).
