I think Maggie and Dolly are my favourites...

Kristen has quite a nice sound but slightly dated and seems very American

Ah yes, she shot JR, didn't she? :o

Don't saddle them with Dolly, poor thing. Maggie but have Margaret on birth certificate.

DogEared · 04/05/2012 17:47

Maggie. Though if I was Margaret I would be a Peggy...

LaDiDaDi · 04/05/2012 18:22

Maggie or Alice

suburbandream · 04/05/2012 18:28

I love them all, but would probably not choose Alice as it has been popular again in recent years. Also Kristen - she will be forever telling people "No, it's Kristen not Kirsten!!"

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Dolly is out of the equation now :-)

Pleased about that!

SodoffBaldrick · 05/05/2012 20:22

Jaysus, only in the UK could the pronunciation of Renee the French way be seen as try hard! Grin

Quite a few women my age with the name growing up.

Dolly!! My most favourite name but DH will absolutely not entertain it.

winkle2 · 06/05/2012 11:56

Re-nay for sure

birdofthenorth · 06/05/2012 16:39

Renee. Really like Maggie, Alice & Pearl but I've never known a baby Renee and think it would be lovely, quirky but classic.

shoegal34 · 09/05/2012 11:30

I see Jack Osborne named his baby girl Pearl :-|

Renee has usurped Maggie in my mind.

Renee, Renee, Renee!

PercyFilth · 09/05/2012 12:49

Me too.

Can't stop listening to the song now, such a classic. Actually I never realised the Four Tops' version was a cover.

PercyFilth · 09/05/2012 12:56

Oh, and yes the name pronounced Ree-nee is a nn for Irene - not the same at all as Renée, which means 'reborn' and has versions in many languages eg Renate, Renata etc.

From Wiki
Singer Rod Stewart and model Rachel Hunter named their daughter born in 1992 Renée because "Walk Away Renée" is one of Stewart's favorite songs.
Singer Gwen Stefani's middle name is Renée and was given to her as a result of The Four Tops' cover of this song.

And it's still uncommon. What's not to like :)

squoosh · 09/05/2012 14:14

Oh I didn't know the Four Tops version was a cover either.

Great tune. It's good to have a cool song associated with your name just not one that is a bit too ingrained in the public psyche. Life must be a pain for Delilahs.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 09/05/2012 15:47

Sara Cox has one.

I have a Maggie (no long version), it's an awesome name

emmyloo2 · 10/05/2012 08:19

Maggie (but with full name Margaret yes?) is by far the best. Dolly is in no way suitable for a grown woman. Alice is ok. Pearl is a bit try-hard although I do like it.
