Does Tallulah really conjure up a stripper?

my dh just loves Tallulah for a girl and we can't agree on any other names we both like. We want something a little different and
poshish but I'm just worried when they areolder could they really be a doctor or teacher with the name. My dh seems to think there wouldn't be a problem but he is quite confident and opinionated! Could I call a little girl this?

Not to me, I absolutely love the name Tallulah, it looks and sounds pretty.

As for the doctor and teacher nonsense, of course she take whatever career path she chooses. Plenty of smart professional people have cool names.

Stripper..and the Tallaulah in Bugsy was supposed to be a bit tarty wasn't she?

It doesn't sound stripper-ish per se... It just, um, lacks substance and, er, sounds a bit flighty. A kid's name. I guess this is a diplomatic way of saying, 'what nooka said'...

A friend of mine is a burlesque dancer and her stage name is Tallulah!

Talulah conjures up a little girl in a Hotchpotch Boden frock and Laura Ashley cardi, with brothers called Oscar and Jack, and a family Labrador called Cadbury.

My friends DD is Tallulah (Lulu). They have a really rock and roll surname though so the name really works as the girliness of Tallulah is contrasted by the hardness of the surname.

Before then I would have said "strippers name" but now I know one, it's different as she is a right little character/tomboy

Jesse wallace (kat Slater from Eastenders) has a child called Tallaulah...that's the image it conjures up fro me " Tallaulah Slay'a,gerr here naaahhhh!"

I love the name (and knew two beautiful little baby Tallulahs). Yes, I'm of an age to know the Bugsy Malone song but so what.

Also... When DS is being a bit melodramatic (as young children can) I do tend to say 'OK Talulah, no-one is going to die if they don't get ice cream!'

For me it runs in the same club as Lola, Scarlett etc. Just doesn't sound suitable for a small child as it sounds like the names of exotic dancers.

It'd be name most children pronounce weirdly until they can say the L sound, usually L is 'yer' so more like Tah-yoo-yer.

I imagine it's difficult to match sibling names too as well.

Definitely a stripper name to me, as others have said similar to Lola in feel.

I wouldn't say it was posh at all - quite the opposite. It does seem a bit try-hard. Some people will think it is stripperish/Bugsy Malone-ish even if you don't. I think it would be a bit of a burden in adulthood.

Tamara and Lucinda are a bit nearer to posh, and have share some sounds with Tallulah.

It just sounds a bit silly.
