My DP has decided he really liked this for a boy but I'm not sure. Bear in mind surname is also begins with C and also has 5 letters. (and is another word for criminal, so one could say a policeman might chase such a person)

Is it a bit Hmm?

It's a verb, not a name. It's bloody awful. Please don't.

ReneeVivien · 31/01/2012 00:06

Nooooo - especially with that surname Shock

He will get teased at school and arrested the first time he gets stopped by a cop who thinks he's taking the piss.

Montsti · 31/01/2012 09:01

Sorry really don't like this name...have come across a few lately though (I live in a new world country where it seems to be a fairly commonplace name)..

TopazMortmain · 31/01/2012 09:02

Unfortunately sounds like a command...

Chase!

AgathaPinchBottom · 31/01/2012 09:09

I thinks it's v cool

SoupDragon · 31/01/2012 09:12

Dont do it!

wahwahwah · 31/01/2012 09:15

Where did he get the idea from? There are so many nice 'real' names out there.

It reminds me of the Horrid Histories Victorian school sketch with some of the more unusual names from the time.

PopcornBiscuit · 31/01/2012 09:45

It's a surname at best (as in actor Lorraine Chase)

Karbea · 31/01/2012 09:54

It's not a name it's a verb, as Lisaro said.
How about Chris or Craig if you want something 5 letters beginning with a C.

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 31/01/2012 09:55

No. Just no.

Lollyheart · 31/01/2012 10:00

I really like it, I considered it for ds3 but dh wasn't keen.

FloydieDoydie · 31/01/2012 10:33

Phew - I'm glad most people agree it doesn't work Grin

I don't mind the name so much, but it really doesn't go with the surname!

Veto to Chase then. (I love Daniel, but he's having none of it Angry)

Another 'no' to Chase - Daniel is lovely though! Work on DP with that!! Smile

meditrina · 31/01/2012 10:42

No - because of the unintended consequences when you have to yell it across a playground,

GetOrfMoiiLand · 31/01/2012 10:42

It was a fat bloke with a beard from Falcon Crest ffs.

Don't do it.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 31/01/2012 10:46

DD (Yr 6) wants me to tell you that there's a Chase in the year below her who gets teased about his name all the time.

Hippolyta20 · 31/01/2012 11:43

No from me too - likely to lead to problems all the way through school and into adult life.

I agree Daniel is a good name.

rachel234 · 31/01/2012 11:44

I don't particularly like it - it sounds very American.

Regarding the verb thing, Will is often used as an abbreviation for William, even though it is probably one of the most used verbs around....and a noun (last will)!

marshmallowpies · 31/01/2012 11:46

...and Status?
Or Chevy?...I hear 'Chase' I automatically think of National Lampoon...

It's just very American and gimmicky to me, I'm afraid.

wahwahwah · 31/01/2012 11:50

One of my grandmas expressions was to 'had away and chase yourself'. I am certain it was an insult.

TeWihara · 31/01/2012 12:02

Daniel is lovely,

I secretly quite like Chase, probably because of Chase Crawford who is v pretty. Blush but it definately needs the right surname!

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 31/01/2012 12:05

As far as the verb thing goes there's also Mark, Jack & probably more, but I think the difference is that they've been around so long as names that people don't really think about it.

MamaLazarou · 31/01/2012 15:22

I dislike it enormously.

pilates · 31/01/2012 15:35

terrible, Daniel much better

shockers · 31/01/2012 15:48

There's a Chase at DS's school. He's quite spoilt and a bit obnoxious... that puts me off the name unfortunately.
