Hi,
Would love to hear opinions on the baby girl's name 'Willow'.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
QueenPodling · 27/01/2012 20:39

I love it. It was on my shortlist but DH vetoed it.

planetpotty · 27/01/2012 20:46

Same here queen Sad

It is getting more popular though - in case that matters to you OP.

Lovely name Smile how could a Wilow not be lovely Smile

blameitonthecaffeine · 27/01/2012 22:02

It's pretty.

But I would worry about the girl growing up to be short and stocky!

PopcornBiscuit · 27/01/2012 22:19

Lovely, very pretty.

southeastastra · 27/01/2012 22:21

awful

southeastastra · 27/01/2012 22:21

willlow as a material is bendy

Mumcentreplus · 27/01/2012 22:21

I like it..

Panzee · 27/01/2012 22:22

Just make sure the genes are on your side. :)

Pancakeflipper · 27/01/2012 22:22

Needs to fit the person. Needs to be willowly. There are several Willows in our area. 1 is not Willowly and it just makes her size more noticeable somehow.

TheCuntwormUnderfoot · 27/01/2012 22:27

They seem to be popping up everywhere! The next Scarlett I'd say

fluffygal · 27/01/2012 22:35

Willow is my DDs middle name. We picked it as her first name and it was only near the end of the pregnancy we waivered a bit but decided to wait until she was born and decide. When she was born she was so feisty and just didn't look like a Willow,so it was downgraded to a middle name. It is a pretty name,I have met a teenage Willow recently who is short with dark brown hair,it suits her though and didn't make me think of her height at all. It is growing in popularity.

hellymelly · 27/01/2012 22:43

I know one Willow. She is 21,and tall and slender and fair,so a very good choice of name for her,but not for all .I also knew a Catkin.

BuntyPenfold · 28/01/2012 21:52

I know 2 Willows. One is a beautiful redheaded girl, the other is a boy.

tentative123 · 28/01/2012 21:56

Ridiculous!

madaboutmadmen · 28/01/2012 22:02

sounds a bit lame

Jellykat · 28/01/2012 22:16

I know a Willow also 21,tall slender and fair.. A lovely name..

(Have a feeling Hellymelly it may be the same one as you Smile)

kerala · 29/01/2012 15:08

Too much of a risk. There was a Willow at school who was short and dumpy poor girl was subject to much sniggering. Unless you and both sets of grandparents are tall and very slim I wouldn't.

LaFilleSurLePont · 29/01/2012 18:29

Love it.

Cewafwb · 29/01/2012 19:45

Have a cousin who is called it and is wonderfully long and willowie but as mentioned, if your genetics might not lean this way then REALLY MEAN!

TwoIfBySea · 29/01/2012 19:47

I-whip-my-hair-back-and-forth

etc.

It is a lovely name but now people will associate it with Will Smith's singing kiddie I fear.

hellymelly · 31/01/2012 21:48

So jelly do I know you? ooh.Quite mysterious and exciting.

Fireandashes · 31/01/2012 22:31

It's a pretty name but I personally wouldn't use it for two reasons:

  1. Most of my friends would assume I'd based it on the Buffy character (I am known as a keen BtVS fan).
  2. I knew a Golden Retriever called Willow. She was a very nice Golden Retriever, but nonetheless, still a dog.
Rhubarbgarden · 31/01/2012 22:34

Lovely. I was tempted.

DoesBuggerAll · 31/01/2012 22:40

What about other tree names?

Larch anyone?

Spruce.
Pine.
Beech.
Yew.
Plane.
Birch.
Maple.
Oak.
Sycamore.
Juniper.

BuntyPenfold · 31/01/2012 23:12

I know a Willow, and I do think that he only has to cry at school once, and someone will say Weeping Willow, and he will never live it down.
