Juno?

AhsokaTano · 26/01/2012 14:05

We have a longish double barrelled surname and and our sons are called Alec and Guy so in the past we have obvs gone for 1 syllable names.

If #3 is a boy it'll be Miles or Magnus or Hugo/Hugh but we have nothing for a girl. I like Juno but it is not only the name of PIL's neighbour but is it a bit silly with a real Jilly Cooper of a surname?

Psammead · 26/01/2012 15:43

I quite like it.

AltShiftDelete · 26/01/2012 16:17

Great name.

glastocat · 26/01/2012 16:18

Its lovely.

glastocat · 26/01/2012 16:19

Its pretty well known in Ireland (but not used much), due to the play Juno and the Paycock.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 26/01/2012 16:21

I love it and want to use it if we have another girl. My only concern is it sounds a bit like something a veh veh posh person would call their dog. Possibly.

AlmaMartyr · 26/01/2012 16:27

Juno's a fab name.

SoFarWeAreEqual · 26/01/2012 17:24

love it.

also love Magnus and Hugo by the way

OriginalJamie · 26/01/2012 17:39

Love it. Your boys names are quite posh too

tiredteddy · 26/01/2012 17:41

Love this name! It is top of the list if I ever produce a girl!

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 26/01/2012 17:42

Love it.

glastocat · 26/01/2012 17:42

Wow,don't think I've ever seen everyone agree in baby names before!

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 17:44

I thought you wanted to talk about the film

AhsokaTano · 26/01/2012 18:16

Hully, I've never seen the film is the title character nice? I've never heard of Juno and the Paycock either - I'm off to google.

All my names coupled with our surname do sound vair posh but I think the (existing) kids pull it off!

I also like Frances for a girl or Iris.

The film is about a teen pregnancy actually! The lead character is funky, quirky and strong. I love her. That's where I heard the name first!

Bluestocking · 26/01/2012 18:31

Hully, I'll talk about the film if you like but I really dislike it! Would hate to disagree with you and risk being disembowelled or sent to live in a Biffa bin (sorry, OP, complete thread hijack).

CheerfulYank · 26/01/2012 18:32

Love the film, love that name. :) Goes well with your boys' as well.

HappyHoppyHippy · 26/01/2012 18:36

Love it!

Clawdy · 26/01/2012 19:59

Junoesque means very large and well-built so that would spoil it as a name for many people. Also suppose it was shortened by friends to June..very 1950s!Sad

WetAugust · 26/01/2012 20:10

Sorry - a dissenter here.

WoTmania · 26/01/2012 20:16

I think it's a great name. I'm probably biased as i love the book Juno & Juliet

narmada · 26/01/2012 22:20

Brilliant. Love it, and I'm uber-picky, especially hate anything with the twang of pretentiousness but I don't think Juno falls into that category. I really like your other two children's names, too.

Jojay · 26/01/2012 22:23

Love it

TinkerMaloo · 27/01/2012 11:11

the film is great :) you have to watch it before you decide on the name

Cloudminnow · 27/01/2012 13:31

It's a lovely name - we called our cat Juno (as no DD to name!). Classical scholars might associate it with being very large and strong - even though it doesn't sound like that.

MeSugar · 27/01/2012 14:51

Junoesque doesn't mean very large and well-built, it means of imposing height and very beautiful! As in the goddess Juno.
