Help needed naming week old unnamed baby

Moobee · 22/01/2012 21:11

Our baby is a week old today and we're having trouble naming her. We wanted to get a hint of her personality before choosing a name so we've only just got to the shortlist phase. My dh is welsh and likes celtic type names, whilst I like a mix but want too give her a name that would not restrict her and so suit a high court judge or a DJ and anything in between.

We have:

Top 10
aoife
beatrice
bethan / bethany
carys
megan
olwen
rebecca
rhiannon / rhian
katherine
robyn

10 - 20
caitlyn
elodie
iona
orla
agnes
maegan
seren
helena
imogen
morgan

I'd appreciate the thoughts of mumsnetters on this one! I've put a photo of her on my profile taken the day she was born to help. She seems inquisitive, intelligent and we think she's beautiful (and I know all parents would probably say those things) so we wanted a name to reflect that.

Thank you!

Beatrice Rhiannon

BaronessBomburst · 22/01/2012 22:05

Beautiful, beautiful girl. Brought tears to my eyes and I'm not even a baby person. Congratulations. I like Bethan.

storytopper · 22/01/2012 22:06

She is beautiful - lovely chubby cheeks and dimpled hands.

Rhiannon and Maegan are both lovely - Maegan more unusual than Megan.

tallpoppies · 22/01/2012 22:07

Seren Iona
She is so beautiful xxx

RobinSparkles · 22/01/2012 22:07

Oh my god, she's gorgeous!!! Mine looked like Grant Mitchell just out of a fight when they were born Grin

She does look like a Beatrice. Congratulations!

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/01/2012 22:07

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 22/01/2012 22:13

Congratulations, she is beautiful!

My vote is for Carys as it means 'loved', which describes her well.

muminthecity · 22/01/2012 22:25

She is stunning! Definitely looks like a Carys to me.

Congratulations! Thanks

pluckingupcourage · 22/01/2012 22:25

I vote for Carys or Beatrice. Congratulations! She is lovely.

dublindee · 22/01/2012 22:36

Being Irish I have to say I definitely approve of some of your choices :o ......

I gift you Caitlin - our choice for a girl (but we only bake boys in this oven!! :o)
Other names that I think suit your gorgeous girl are:
Róisín (meaning little rose and pronounced row-sheen)
Gráinne (meaning little love and pronounced graw-nya)

Congrats and have fun choosing!!!

DeeCrepitude · 22/01/2012 22:44

Beautiful little girl - congratulations!

Depends a bit on your surname but I like Rhiannon Carys.

ISpyPlumPie · 22/01/2012 23:22

She's gorgeous! Some lovely names in your list - think I like Carys best followed by Aoife.

cece · 22/01/2012 23:25

I would go for Helena. It is a tak you anywhere name. Easy to spell and say. Plus she looks like a Helena.

Congratualtions BTW

awomenscorned · 22/01/2012 23:28

Congratulations!! She looks very cuddly!! I wouldn't mind if she was nocturnal - I can think of worse things that spending the night cuddling & feeding her :)

Bethan, Megan (pronounced Mehgan not Meegan), Caitlyn, Elodie, Imogen

frankenonsense · 22/01/2012 23:44

How gorgeous is she! She looks bright and thoughtful but with a good sense of humour. I think she is a Bethan . Maybe Bethan Helena. Also like Katherine and Imogen.

BuntyPenfold · 22/01/2012 23:56

Beatrice or Robyn, and congratulations.

exoticfruits · 22/01/2012 23:56

Congratulations-she is gorgeous.
Rebecca or Katherine.

lisad123 · 22/01/2012 23:59

Imogen or Seren. All the others are nice too but some are quite common names now. Sadly for me there's lots of names I link with children I have worked with, so some are a def no no Grin

Moobee · 23/01/2012 00:23

Thank you all, it's really interesting to see that there are a core of names that keep cropping up. Some pretty new names too.

I'm glad you all think she's adorable - she's even cuter now and has the funniest mannerisms. :)
