Just that really.

What do we think of:

Marion/an
Merryn
Merry
Marina
Marika
Mari

?

Not pregnant, just fantasising about a future child. Multicultural family so could pull off an 'unusual' spelling.

Merixel (pn merichel, Catalan)

Mariamne

FellatioNelsonsDog · 23/01/2012 05:59

No No not Marisol. It sounds like a low-fat spread or a psoriasis unguent.

I have never heard Merryn before. I like it - I think.

FellatioNelsonsDog · 23/01/2012 06:00

No-one has actually said Mary yet!

Gincognito · 23/01/2012 06:23

WineOhWhy, where is the emphasis in Marina? MA- reen -a? We would pronounce it with equal emphasis on all syllables, to sound more like the old mariner. Would that be confusing?

OP posts:
FellatioNelsonsDog · 23/01/2012 06:36

I think that would be odd. and it would confuse people re: spelling.

Gincognito · 23/01/2012 06:49

It probably would, eh. Not being contrary btw, that's actually how it's pronounced in dh's mother tongue (Japanese). We'd be forever correcting the pronunciation.

FaithHopeAndKevin · 23/01/2012 11:25

Not Muriel.

Marisa - I know a Mari-SS-a and a Mar-EE-sa. Second is Spanish pronunciation.

I would say Marina like Marine-a.
