List of all boys born in December at my local hospital

Discovered the wonderful website of my local hospital that lists all the babies born by name, birthday, parents names. It's fabulous for making sure that I don't choose the most popular name in my town ... although from the list I am definitely in my own company! Opinions on the names or just a generalization of the list? I'm in America. Hugely interesting variation from the UK lists.

I think it must be Soph-Yee-Ah. Confused

Well it probably isn't, but it should be.

And what about Tay'Shawn? What purpose does that apostrophe serve?

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2012 20:01

It's Sophia, probably.

Fell lots of children in the African American community are given names with apostrophes; there are several reasons for this but these seem most probable.

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2012 20:03

I mean several reasons given for this.

What horrible names

Fishpond · 04/01/2012 20:05

I actually know the Tay'Shawn. He is my friends little boy, they call him Tay. I was not asked and have not given my opinion of his name Grin

And wrt Kinnidi, at the nursery I work at there is a Trinidi. Grin

You just know there's a twin set of Trinidi and Kinnidi somewhere... :)

SoupDragon: stealing babies' identities has been a common way for criminals to establish an alter ego. There are cases from across the globe, and it's something that's been happening for decades. Publishing this level of information just serves to make it easier.

Sorry - didn't mean to come over all serious in a thread like this. But it is worth giving a thought to what is published about your children, especially now the criminals' task is much easier in these days of global connectivity.
