List of all boys born in December at my local hospital

Discovered the wonderful website of my local hospital that lists all the babies born by name, birthday, parents names. It's fabulous for making sure that I don't choose the most popular name in my town ... although from the list I am definitely in my own company! Opinions on the names or just a generalization of the list? I'm in America. Hugely interesting variation from the UK lists.

Which would make sense; I know lots of little ones with those names. :)

AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 04/01/2012 03:04

i am LOVING Payzlei. [scottish]

ninedragons · 04/01/2012 04:02

Wow. Most of those just look like a really bad hand of Scrabble.

Fishpond · 04/01/2012 15:34

Yank I completely agree with the Teen Mom = Bentley! Bleurgh.

I worked out our Top 10 boy names:

OFFICIAL top names not taking into account different spellings of the same name:

  1. William
  2. Mason
  3. Lucas
  4. Levi
  5. Elijah
  6. Landon
  7. Nolan
  8. Tyler
  9. Bentley
10. Brayden 10. Jackson (tie)

Counting different spellings of the same name as one name is different:

  1. William
  2. Jackson / Jaxon / Jaxen / Jaxson
  3. Aden / Adon / Aiden / Aidan / Aidyn
  4. Bentlee / Bentley
  5. Lucas / Lukus
  6. Brayden / Braiden
  7. Elijah
  8. Tyler
10. Landon

Oops Mason should have been squished in there before Elijah on the second list.

Should I include the entire 'K' list? It involves some true beauties Grin

SoupDragon · 04/01/2012 15:58

Dear god - it just looks like they can't spell. The misspellings of Aidan make me want to weep.

SoupDragon · 04/01/2012 15:59

But yes... Give us the Ks! I think you can always guarantee good names beginning with K :o

Fishpond · 04/01/2012 15:59

But Soup! They're being yooneek!

"lists all the babies born by name, birthday, parents names"

I hope they have obtained the consent of all families - this sort of data is a dream of future ID thieves.

Fishpond · 04/01/2012 16:06

Yes, as I previously mentioned families can opt out but I don't think it's very common to do so. Surnames and addresses are not listed. First names only and birth days.

overmydeadbody · 04/01/2012 16:13

Wston not mush use for ID thieves without a surname though.

overmydeadbody · 04/01/2012 16:13

sorry for poor spelling. I meant Weston and much. The data is not much use for ID thieves without surnames.

MudAndGlitter · 04/01/2012 16:16

I hated Bentley when Maci chose it.
I like Sophia.
I hate Leah.
I don't like Carly.

Yes I judge all American names by pregnant teenagers on the tellybox.
Sometimes.

EdithWeston · 04/01/2012 16:27

OP didn't mention surnames: but date and (in particular) place of birth is valuable info, especially as family first names makes surnames easy to find.

I note this wasn't in UK - I don't think it would be legal here without consent, and I do not think that amount of data would be released in one place.

SoupDragon · 04/01/2012 16:39

How is the identity of a newborn baby going to be much use?

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2012 16:59

I know a Kinnidi. It's pronounced Kennedy.

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2012 17:01

MudAndGlitter I promise, most American kids have fairly normal names. 'Round here they're all Alex or Owen or Jake for boys, and Ava, Bella, or Grace for girls. There are quite a few Madisons, which I don't like. Madeleine is much better. I do know a little Mattigan as well, which I actually think is kind of cool. It's her mother's maiden name and they call her Mattie.

WhatstheScenario · 04/01/2012 19:03

Christ.

I feel it is once again time to bring out ye olde Utah babynamer

WhatstheScenario · 04/01/2012 19:04

Kinnidi is fucking horrible

MudAndGlitter · 04/01/2012 19:05

I love Mattie for a girl. I love boys names for girls yet DD still gets called the girl abbreviation of her name rather than the boy one!

CheerfulYank · 04/01/2012 19:11

Ah, the Utah-ites. The Mormons usually get the blame for it, but the family of Mormons I know really well are called Matthew, Melanie, Sean, Ryan, and Shannon. So not too out there. :) But they're not the really out-there fundamentalists...I think those people tend to be the over the top namers.

SoupDragon · 04/01/2012 19:13

OMg - Abcde for a girl! LOLOL

FellatioNelson · 04/01/2012 19:14

PMSL at Payzlei and Jahlexyz. That is all I have to say.

Doozie · 04/01/2012 19:29

How do you pronounce Sophyia? It looks like they couldn't decide between Sophy and Sophia.
