The company that did our loft conversion was called Attica.

(They did a very good job, though, if that helps.)

Kayano · 24/11/2011 14:46

I'm sure we had a similarly named loft company Blush

MelinaM · 24/11/2011 14:47

I like Attica, reminds me of the darling Mr Atticus FinchSmile

Not sure about the nn Kitty though.

Catsmamma · 24/11/2011 14:47

Kitty is fine, Attica...not so much

Attica, Cattica, Kittica, Kitty.....is that how it goes?

Acanthus · 24/11/2011 14:47

I didn't know it was a name. But it shortens to Ticcy, not Kitty.

ChateauMargot · 24/11/2011 14:52

Husband likes Attica (there's an American writer with the same name) and we both like Kitty. Wanted a longer alternative on the birth certificate, and not fond of Katherine or Kathleen (which, if we're talking phonetics, actually bear less even resemblance to Kitty!)

Hm.

I like it, but it's the first time I've heard of it. Love Atticus too! Kitty is very cute..

NewsClippings · 24/11/2011 17:36

Not to my taste I'm afraid. Attics and cat's name - sorry.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 24/11/2011 21:28

No no no no no no no! If you like Kitty use Kitty.

I have a Kitty & she's exactly that.... KITTY!! Smile

No No and thrice No. Anyone else hearing Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon chanting Attica Attica!
It's a maximum security prison housing serial killers love, stick with Kitty.

UterusUterusGhali · 24/11/2011 21:42

I like it.

I thouht I had heard it somewhere though, and I think it's the prison.^^

Google tells me it's an old part of Greece though.

I love Kitty too.

WetAugust · 25/11/2011 00:08

It's a bit contrived. Attica's OK, Kitty's OK, but I'm really not a fan of choosing one name and then actually calling them another.

PrincessScrumpy · 25/11/2011 21:20

We have a Kitty (she's 12 weeks old). I don't like Kathy, Katherine etc so just wanted a Kitty and discovered it's a name in its own right going back to the 16th Century. It was also my great aunt's name although it was short for something (can't remember what as she was known at Kitty).

SoupDragon · 25/11/2011 21:20

Attica is shocking.

wigglesrock · 25/11/2011 21:29

I'm with IslaValargeone "Attica Attica" [fist raised in solidarity] Just takes one 15 year old with an interest in 70s Al Pacino film and the name is sunk. Love Kitty, considered it for dd3.

freerangeeggs · 26/11/2011 00:01

Attica is a cool name. I also love Kitty.

ShengdanRoad · 27/11/2011 13:36

Attica? Have you taken leave of your senses?

talkingnonsense · 27/11/2011 15:34

Attica is a boys name to me. How about kitty as a nickname for christine ( like kit for Christopher) or tabitha ( tabby cat) ?

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 27/11/2011 15:51

No! Call her Catherine or Katherine, and then use Kate or Cate or Kitty for short. Not Attica.

MigratingCoconuts · 27/11/2011 15:55

why not just call her kitty?

CupOfGoodCheer · 27/11/2011 16:38

Attica is pretentious, and a boys name, in any case.

Kitty is... ok.
