Sweet shop names?

DP has responsibility for picking a middle name for our 8 day old daughter Tamsin. He likes the sort of very literal names that usually people think better suit Disney characters and he likes names that he thinks suit the child's character. He is not in the least bit phased by name snobbery.

He gave our older daughter Saffron the middle name Pixie and you have to admit it suits her, she is a total Scamp, always happy and never still.

Little Tamsin is especially pink and white and delightfully sweet natured. So Daddy is looking at her thinking of sweeties, sugar and any and everything you can decorate with pink icing.

Tamsin Candy? Tamsin Sherbert? Tamsin Sugar? I see a field trip to the sweet shop before long, for name inspiration!

I thought you lovely ladies (and lovely lads) would perhaps enjoy joining in? What sweeties might pass for a name do you think? Go wild, this could be quite a fun thread!

You realise you are naming a person for life and not marketing a new piece of confectionary don't you?

I really, really dislike this idea, but if you absolutely must, how about Lolly, which I think is actually used as an abbreviation for something (Lauren?).

Or Araminta, as said above, is nice and actually a name.

Ah, is this a Halloween prank?

If not, sorry OP! As I said above, I don't like the idea, but congratulations on your lovely baby.

I feel sick.

Seriously, why not wait for a little longer than 8 days to see whether she turns out to be a little sugar plum

OP go for it! I don't know why some people are being so sniffy about it, after all it will be her middle name. We don't all think that Chloe/Isabel/Ruby/Grace* are the most fantastic names out there!

*No offence to the Mummies of Chloe/Isabel/Ruby/Grace!

Crikey, I'd think DH's balls had zzzaaa- pinged back up inside his body if he starting coming out with names - actual person's names - like Pixie and Lolly, and would be quietly wondering about him quite hard.

That is all. [hgrin]

Some people! Call her fluffy wuffy noodle head if that's what you want! She's your daughter. Of how about Shaun,
You know, coz at 8 days you don't know what her personality is and she could be not girly at all. How rude to make fun of
Someone, I bet most wouldn't do it if this conversation was face to face ( que 20 puffed up people saying they would actually) none o our business. if you don't like the idea and son have any suggestions, don't post.

Of course we wouldn't say it face-to-face!!

That's the beauty of baby names - you have free reign to say what you actually think, instead of smiling and nodding and inwardly sniggering.

To be fair - it's a middle name - in my opinion to be used to honour family or to let your creative juice flow freely. I still maintain I'd be wondering about my DH if his taste ran thus... Grin
