Star or Constellation Names

[Nightstar]

The girls in my family have all been named after stars, or a foreign version of the meaning of star (e.g. my name is Seren, which is star in Welsh)

But I'm having trouble coming up with boys names that don't sound daft.

So far the only one that seems vaguelly normal is Orion, which i dont like. Any suggestions?

The best ones have been used in HP - Bellatrix, Sirius, Draco, Andromeda

Thanks, yes I went through a few lists and it seems JK Rowling was at the same lists!

Would prefer not to have a HP name if possible. I did have Castor on my list then DH said Castor Oil, and so it got struck off. I think Pollux sounds like a skin condition.

Here's wiki - boyish possibilities include: Leo, Hercules, Phoenix, Tarazed, Achird, Alphard, Rasalas, Aldebaran, Alioth?

Maybe I need something else that is connected to Astronomy but not an actual star? (Just to explain a rather famous atronomer in history was a relative and its become a family tradition)

Ummm, most of those are a bit odd, maybe Jupiter could go on the list.

Okay, Stellan is great but apparently means peaceful or calm, I'd consider it though. I'd twist Altair into Alistair possibly.

Asa apparently means 'starting life at dawn' which is nice and I adore the name.

Tobias 'born with a star' - meanings quoted are according to random google generated website

Chineapple I have a secret love of Tycho, but was put off pushing with DP for potential DS when I found the man himself pronounced it like 'teeko' rather than the 'tyke-o' I'd presumed

My DD's middle name is Seren

Marius is probably derived from Mars.

I think you should check this entry on Dashiell before making any decisions.
