DH and I disagree so badly with names, we rarely find ones that we even both like a little bit.

As we dont know the sex of the baby we have come to the drastic conclusion of choosing a sex each. He has Boys and I have Girls- we each have one veto.. he has already vetoed my favourite name!

I know that this is a really drastic conclusion but rather one of us be happy than both of us settle. has anyone else got this problem, what did you do?

Or did anyone else try this solution, did it work for you?

Truly lovely names. Well done. How did you get him to drop Terry, etc?

PetronusOfSteel · 11/07/2011 20:36

That sounds much better and you've even got a fallback option if baby doesn't look like a Harry/Mae, much better than your original lists, hope you don't mind me saying. Smile

Good news :). I love Mae West (we are very very very distant cousins according to one website).

mathanxiety · 12/07/2011 20:40

I think Mae or May are lovely as first names. Very simple and sweet.

Well done Danio7. They are all lovely names. Keep Zac and Madeleine as back ups in case the baby looks more like one of those names.

By the way I prefer the Mae spelling.

danio7 · 12/07/2011 21:12

thanks so much, we really werent sure on the spelling of Mae, but I dont want it to be like the month, we looked at mai- but it reminds me of koi karp for some reason?! Confused

I also think Madeleine is a beautiful name and so classy, but very popular- I know a million Madys!

We figured we can fluff up Mae for when she is a baby by calling her maisie(assuming it's a girl) but I'm hesitant about officially naming her maisie incase she feels uncomfortable at 40!!

I hope this makes sense?!

It makes sense to me.

Well done youSmile Love Harry and Mae!

JanMorrow · 13/07/2011 17:30

Ah well done! My Gran was called Mai, it's a very pretty name (whatever the spelling!), it's my daughter's middle name in her honour.

We couldnt agree either so decided that i got to name the first one and he gets to name the second one. All sounded great except now that the second one is on the way and the name he wants for a boy is just plain awful with our surname (aliteration on maximum) so i might have to become thoroughly unreasonable and reneg on our agreement.

BertieBasset · 14/07/2011 20:56

Thank goodness - I had been having nightmares about a baby Tel!

vicks71 · 14/07/2011 22:43

well done for finding a solution! I think that you had to do it that way - I don't think it would be fair to have used a name that one of you didn't like at all.

I WAS going to (jokingly!) suggest something nefarious like sneakily doing a scan so you knew how vehemently you needed to argue against Terry etc - but thankfully that wasn't necessary! Smile
