Other weird facts on husband's maternal line is all the women were given the middle name of Vernon.

Oh, and we liked Carmen (husband's grandma's name) so called our first daughter Carmen.

Annie and Vincent, Elsie and Ernest. DH lobbied quite hard for Ernest for a boy's name when I was pg as he had a GF Ernest too and thought it was Fate. Fortunately Fate gave us girls.

Mine were

Not sure about DH but think one was Gwladys ( Welsh for Gladys ) and Herbert.

Walter, Louie (a woman), Phyllis and Edgar.

I love Louie for a girl, except she was a mean old cow not very nice to me, so I didn't want to name my DD for her.

LadyWord · 13/06/2011 13:30

I think DP had a Charles and Alma on one side, but don't know about the other side.

My daughters have granny names - Josephine and Eleanor

My grannies were Hilda and Ellen, though I never knew the latter, my dad's mum as she died when my dad was young.

Wasn't quite brave enough to go with Hilda :) - perhaps it will have a revival in 5/10 years though, who knows? Eleanor can have the same abbrevation as Ellen - i.e. Nell/Nellie, but mainly I was thinking of Roosevelt, of Aquitaine and Farjeon. Josie is named after an aunt and a school friend.

lulamama · 13/06/2011 14:19
