Love it, rarely hear it these days.

mathanxiety · 11/06/2011 17:31

Kind of a classic Irish name, very nice.

FriggFRIGG · 11/06/2011 18:00

LOVE IT!

Lonnie · 11/06/2011 20:09

pretty

5DollarShake · 11/06/2011 20:41

Underused.

SherlockHolmes · 11/06/2011 20:43

Never heard of it. No idea how to pronounce in either. TBH it sounds like a brand of nail varnish. Sorry.

SherlockHolmes · 11/06/2011 20:44

it not in Blush

If I was Irish I might like it. I like the look of the word but not the sound 'Noola'.

maisiemackenzie · 11/06/2011 20:51

I have one! Obviously i love it, but i have to say, nobody ever knows what i'm saying when i say her name, and i have to repeat it which drives me insane..

whydobirdssuddenlyappear · 11/06/2011 20:59

It's gorgeous. I like Fionnuala too. I love Irish names. If I still had my maiden name, I could have got away with really, really Irish names for my dcs, but sadly I took DH's name.

FriggFRIGG · 11/06/2011 21:22

i covet Fionnuala its my name of the moment Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/06/2011 16:28

Love it.

ragged · 12/06/2011 17:02

I would ?probably mispronounce it. If you're living in Britain and it's said "Noola" I would spell it Noola. But then do they get teased about Noodles?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 12/06/2011 17:05

You can't spell it Noola!

Fionnuala is lovely as well.

FriggFRIGG · 12/06/2011 17:11

spell it Noola!??! Shock FGS!

ragged · 12/06/2011 17:27

How do you say it? Do you say it New-owl-uh? That's what I, as an English speaker, assume from the spelling.

laiyan · 12/06/2011 17:28

love it

lalabaloo · 12/06/2011 18:10

I love it! But agree that you definitely couldn't spell it "Noola"

Trinaluce · 12/06/2011 18:19

I think it's very pretty, but we know one so wouldn't use it. She's a lovely lady, but the name's too much connected to her for us :)

msbuggywinkle · 12/06/2011 19:20

It is lovely, DD2's friend's name, but she is the only one we know. 'Noola' is daft.

Mollydoggerson · 12/06/2011 22:27

It's pronounced like a Duala (birthing partner - is duala the correct spelling?), but with an N.

I live in Ireland and over here it would be considered an out of fashion granny name, very rural name. So it's not considered fashionable over here, but it sounds nice to me.

Thanks for opinions.

That would be doula. I would pronounce nuala with a schwa sound in the middle: NOO-(uh)-la

dangalf · 13/06/2011 17:14

I love it - think it is a gorgeous name and was on my girl's name shortlist

Twiga · 13/06/2011 17:17

Love it!
