I really love this name but I haven't had a good reaction when I said it to my cousin (but then she can be very butchy about names) then I had a very positive reaction when I mentioned it to a friend (but she likes 'weird' names, the stranger the better she told me )

Thought I'd test reactions on here instead

Googled it to check your spelling - I would have initially though Desiree with an accent. The top two links I got (for desirae) on google were porn sites......

Is it pronounced like the potato? If it is, then would be better spelt that way i.e. desiree. The -rae looks wrong.

Desiree is lovely. But not spelt Desirae.

Lots of potato varieties out there including Charlotte, Anja, Edward, Desiree - still nice names.

It means 'desired' so it's Desiree, at least spell it right!

Desiree is better than Desirae which looks illiterate (sorry). I understand the appeal but it's a bit American/90s for me.

And also I did instantly think potatoes. I don't know what you mean by 'potatoes won't be around forever' - that's probably true but I'm not sure they'll be going anywhere during your daughter's lifetime.

It's not a name I'd go for, but Desirée is OK. I don't like other spellings for it, though.

Maris is good if you like spud names apart from the usual Charlotte & Edward

DD has a German friend call Desiree - I always thinki how pretty it is.
