Lovely. I've always liked Kathryn spelt that way. Smile

MercurySoccer · 05/05/2011 21:10

Lovely :)

redrobin · 05/05/2011 21:11

ha! i have a Rose Kathryn. Love it.

simpson · 05/05/2011 21:13

beautiful name Smile

Bumperlicioso · 05/05/2011 21:19

Good spelling Grin. Lovely classic name.

Acanthus · 05/05/2011 21:21

Lovely classic name but I don't like the spelling. Catherine or Katharine, for me.

MelinaM · 05/05/2011 21:23

A beautiful, classic nameSmile A very refreshing change from all these 'cutesy' names!

Bumperlicioso · 05/05/2011 21:23

Either way you have to bloody spell it out every time! annoying for such a commonly used name.

spiderlight · 05/05/2011 21:51

Love it.

pilates · 06/05/2011 12:21

Prefer Catherine Rose.

I have a Kathryn, but when she started primary she insisted the school call her Katy and they have done ever since!

fruitychicken · 06/05/2011 12:40

Love it and love your spelling!!

scoobydoobydoobydoobydoo · 06/05/2011 15:15

Catherine Rose yes.

Kathryn looks so much harsher. Catherine Rose conjours up images of a carefree young girl picking flowers in a summer meadow.

Kathryn Rose is just a girl who could have been picking flowers in a summer meadow if only someone had called her Catherine.

IMO!

PedigreeChump · 07/05/2011 09:47

Love it, and much prefer Kathryn or Katherine to Catherine. Lots of good nicknames too.

Emelene · 07/05/2011 12:56

Beautiful! I personally prefer the spelling Katherine Rose, but Kathryn is pretty too. :)

NoCarbsBeforeMarbs · 07/05/2011 13:01

I'm a Kathryn who has never been called Kathryn Grin Not sure why my parents used it, as they have never called me it. I couldn't even spell it when I started school, could only spell Katy!

I think the Katherine looks prettier, but Kathryn is nice too.

And Kathryn Rose is a beautiful name.

LittleMissFlustered · 07/05/2011 16:42

Speaking as somebody who knew three Kathryn types at school, it is apparently just a geographical boob on the spellings.

It's a lovely name, and spell it how you please x

ChippingIn · 07/05/2011 16:46

2011 - Royal wedding & all.... Kathryn, hardly likely to be the only in in her class in a few years time is she - more like one of 10 (unless you aren't in the UK).

The Royal Wedding 1981 didn't result in an avalanche of Dianas, as far as I remember. Catherine/Katherine is a classic name which would never be associated with any one person in particular, and it has a variety of diminutives which distinguish people.

I don't like the Kathryn spelling, that type of affectation always makes t look like the parents can't spell.

ChippingIn · 08/05/2011 14:31

There were a whole lot of things that didn't happen in the 80's that do now. I bet there are a LOT more Catherines/Kates (no matter how you spell it) in the next year or so. Anyway - we could run a book on it, no one will know for a few years.

ChippingIn · 08/05/2011 14:32

Well - the registry will of course, what I meant was by the time you have chosen it, it will be too late and you probably wont know how many C/K's are around until your wee one goes to nursery.

PotatoWaffle · 08/05/2011 14:42

Well I don't actually care if she's the only one in her class which might sound strange. Why would I if I like the name? to me, it seems stupid that people search for something unusual and unique only for people to say it's too pretentious or 'made up' sounding. You can't win. Plus even if I chose something really unusual there is absolutely no guarantee that someone else in my town might have had the same brain wave and there'll be 2 or more in her class. It's popularity really doesn't bother me. that aside I can not decise on the Kathryn/ Katherine spelling!

How do you like the way it's said?

Kath er ine

or

Kath ryn

Of course you will get people saying it any which way and spelling it any which way - but you may as well start with how you like it said :)
