Daisy?

Dh is keen on Daisy but I haven't made my mind up yet. I think it's pretty for a very young girl but twee and childish for an older girl and woman. I think it is also very popular?

I do like it, but I see your concerns. I don't like that it's like daze either. As in 'in a daze'. dazy daisy. that's what i hear.

ElsieR · 23/04/2011 09:43

Love it too but also heard it was becoming increasingly popular.

BuntyPenfold · 23/04/2011 09:55

I love it, in spite of Lazy Daisy etc, and it is my top choice for a girl. Although it is supposed to be popular I only know one, aged 12-ish, and I know a lot of pre-schoolers.

hodgessucks · 23/04/2011 11:01

Bit over used and a bit too little girly for me.

Jaspants · 23/04/2011 13:58

Very popular round here (Midlands) but still very pretty

PaisleyLeaf · 23/04/2011 14:01

I'm not sure how seriously you can be taken as an adult called Daisy.

bisybackson · 23/04/2011 14:06

I think it's pretty. Would you consider putting the full name - Magaret -on the BC? Not so pretty, maybe, but it gives more options when she's bigger.

MrsMae · 23/04/2011 14:07

Rhymes with Lazy and Crazy. Why would you?

CharlieBoo · 23/04/2011 14:22

Love it, its beautiful...the cv thing bores me, the being taken seriously thing bores me....has Daisy MCandrew ever had a problem??

MittzyTheMinx · 23/04/2011 14:26

It is my DD's middle name, she is Kira Daisy and I love her name and could have happily used Daisy as her first name.

She is mostly a sunny bright loving delight and it really suits her Smile

x

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 23/04/2011 14:30

I like it a lot - tis one of my dd's middle names.

muminthecity · 23/04/2011 14:33

I have a Daisy, I love the name (obviously!) but it has become very popular lately. DD is the only one at her school at the moment but we've met lots of baby and toddler Daisys recently.

MILMania · 23/04/2011 14:36

It's pretty, but I wouldn't want to be called Daisy myself, iyswim, so wouldn't use it. It is just too girly. Poppy is the same.

richpickings · 23/04/2011 15:04

Beautiful name. It was my first choice for a girl's name. Have heard of a few Daisys locally but doesn't seem overly popular.

Prinpo · 23/04/2011 16:54

I like it, but it's hugely popular round these 'ere parts.

yummybutterbiscuit · 23/04/2011 18:21

reality, i thought you meant you had called your child 'kitten daisy' and I was thinking that it was an interesting name choice...

but then reread it and understood haha [bugrin]

Greenwing · 23/04/2011 19:25

I agree with you - too twee and childish for a grown woman IMO. But that is true of quite a few popular girls' names.

Daisy McAndrew is an exception to some extent but she is working in the media which is more accepting. It she was a partner in a City law firm it might be different. Wasn't there a story about a woman with a name like Jasmine being advised to use her middle name instead?

MelinaM · 23/04/2011 23:39

Daisy's one of those 'cutsie' names that are very 'of the moment' right now, I also can't imagine a grown woman being called Daisy or Daze for shortHmm ...I also know a fair few Daisy's of the feline varietyGrin

ninja · 23/04/2011 23:43

My Granny was a Margaret who was called Daisy throughout her life by some people - lovely name

startail · 24/04/2011 00:01

It's pretty, but a bit childish. DD2 has a doll in a flowery dress she calls Daisy.
Some thing really traditional like Daisy Elizabeth might just work.
Personally I'd go for Bryony or Heather if I was being floral. (the only Daisy I know is a rather well built child and it just doesn't suit)

Perpetuallypregnant · 24/04/2011 00:20

After months of indecision, my dd4 is going to be Daisy Elizabeth :)

I love it and the more serious mn gives her more options if she wants to be a lawyer and not be called Daisy Hmm

tstar · 24/04/2011 12:35

It's a name... who are we to say what is childish, too old or too popular. sorry ,but in 20 years time I dont think it will be and issue.
Daisy should be a name held strong such as Poppy,Rosemary,Lilly, ect.
I have met one Dasiy and my golly she can hold her own.
I love the idea of these lovely different names comming up.
Traditional, yet new, I love it!

CharlieBoo · 24/04/2011 16:19

Here here tstar! Its ridiculous to suggest someone called Daisy can't be a partner in law firm.... why on earth not? In 20 years time there will be a whole generation of Poppy's, Lilys, Daisy's, Tilly's etc...
