Stella - cute or too quirky?

Just wanted to get people's thoughts on the name Stella.

I hadn't considered this name before yesterday and the more I think of it, the cuter I think it could be and also appropriate for when a little girl grows up into a teenager and beyond.

My only concern is that it could be a little too quirky and might need a little girl to be quite confident with bags of personality to carry it off?!?!

My partner has pretty much ruled it out, but I just wanted to see what peoples opinions of it were :)

Also, our surname is Seager - therefore Stella Seager to me sounds really lovely - but I'm not sure if some people think it would be silly!

Thanks for your help.
Sarah

well...maybe is just that I don't even notice cheap beers like stella or perhaps watch programs like shameless, so naturally I wouldn't associate name Stella with something that cheap and horrendous Grin

Estrella beer is 'the beer' in Spain though. I don't even drink beer but know of it. It's everywhere.

pilates · 25/10/2014 13:39

It's not a cute name, it's awful - sorry.

My 8 year old DD is Stella, named after my grandmother and our surname starts with S too :) fab name! Smile

monostar · 25/10/2014 13:43

I got it...what I am saying is that if few of you did not mention it now, you know when would I think of stella artois...never lol

now thinking...is every jack associated with whiskey...or perhaps george with beer...there is a beer called st george or something like that...then we have johnny, tom, tia, morgan...not to go into cocktails or some food names Grin

I like the name Stella! If the op had suggested calling her dd Carling or Carlsberg then I would have yelled a big fat NO but Stella is just not the same.

Stella Seager????

Stella's eager???

NO.

BigfootFilesHisToesInYourTea · 25/10/2014 16:00

Ah, ffs zombie thread. I really hope they didn't call her Stella Seager!

KatOD · 25/10/2014 16:20

My 2 YO DD is Stella Lucy (star light) named after my nan, Stella Maris (star of the sea). We had a couple of lager jokes when she was born, but only from people with a limited imagination. That concern passed very quickly.

Wildpoppies · 25/10/2014 19:47

Really like this. Makes me think of an elegant clever tall old lady (not a bad image). Def on shortlist if we have another girl

Mrsfrumble · 25/10/2014 19:51

Love it! I know an awesome 2 year old Stella. Her parents call her "Stellaphant", which may be the cutest nickname ever.

Noggie · 25/10/2014 19:58

I really like it! One of my dd friends is called Stella and she is a great girl Grin

It's not quirky at all, just very normal and nicely old fashioned

Wordsaremything · 25/10/2014 21:16

Sophisticated intelligent name. Love it .

Heels99 · 25/10/2014 21:18

LOve the name.

Letitgoletitgo · 26/10/2014 13:36

Love Stella, but would be wary of using it because of the Artois connection. Estella could work better?
