Do you think Percy would ridiculous for a boy today? I pass a Percy Street road sign every day and it's really growing on me!! An old name trend too far or so you like it?!

Joan Collins husband is called Percy and he is lush.
I like it.

noyoucant · 04/03/2011 17:09

Yes, it is.

LoopyLoopsHulaHoops · 04/03/2011 17:11

Yes, sorry, to me it says "bully me please".

upahill · 04/03/2011 17:12

please don't

timetomove · 04/03/2011 17:14

I know (ish) one of the 3 who used Percival last year (known as Percy). He (the father) is very posh.

When i first heard it I could not quite believe anyone would use it and I could not imagine addressing a small child as Percival or Percy.

But then my DCs got in to Percy Jackson and it sort of feels like a normal name now.

I love Percy! Go for it! I've just named my son Stanley Arthur...x

randomimposter · 04/03/2011 20:40

Asinine · 04/03/2011 20:46

There is a little boy Percy in our town. I like the less often used names.

EldonAve · 04/03/2011 21:04

I know one Percy who is a preschooler - he has an indulgent mummy

smother · 04/03/2011 22:52

yes, ridiculous is a fair description.. it's quite sweet though, can see it could be a grower. but do you want to conduct that type of social experiment with your child??

LittleWhiteWolf · 05/03/2011 20:56

I adore Percy. Its a family name on my mothers side of the family (we ain't posh neither! Wink) and DH and I have it on the shortlist for DC2 should he be a boy. Amongst that list are Leonard, Lawrence and Quentin.
I love names that were popular in the 1920s and I especially love names that aren't as popular today. My DDs name is a 1920s, not too common name, too.

At the end of the day you aren't naming a baby boy; you're naming your son who will be a baby for 1 year, then a toddler, then a child, teen and finally, and mostly, a grown man. Its ridiculous to discount a name because "it doesnt' suit a little baby" Hmm

Allatsea1 · 05/03/2011 22:36

Yes

exoticfruits · 05/03/2011 22:45

YES

Meglet · 05/03/2011 22:48

I like Percy. Also like Hector and Jasper.

Articulate · 06/03/2011 11:16

I sort of like it, but I would never use it!

Thissideofchannel · 06/03/2011 11:45

I like it. It sounds a bit 'trendy' at the moment though with all the Alfie, Perry, Archie type names used at the moment. Percival is a great long name though.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 06/03/2011 22:26

God, I love it!

SherbetDibDab · 06/03/2011 22:29

Percy is what you point at the porcelain.

evamummy · 07/03/2011 09:30

I thought men point their Willy at the porcelain Hmm?

MazzzaG · 07/03/2011 22:49
