Classic single syllable girls names

We are trying to think of a middle name if we end up givng dd a long elaborate first name.

Ideally I want something simple ad classic and short.

Anne would fit the bill but doesn't go with the first name possibility.

Rose is lovely, but it seems to be everyone's middle name choice.

Jane would be ok, but it is not quite right...

Any other ideas welcome!

Kate is a shortening. Also you have to e careful the two names don't sound like a verb along the lines of masticate, elasticate.

First name we are thinking might be Anastasia. So cant use Anne even though its my favourite. Nothing else is really leaping out at me. Quite like Ruth and Faith but not enough to use them.

If you're happy to consider two or three syllable names as well, there would be lots which would sound lovely with Anastasia :)

Anastasia Catherine
Anastasia Juliet
Anastasia Emily
Anastasia Beatrice
Anastasia Harriet
Anastasia Lucy
Anastasia Georgia
Anastasia Penelope
Anastasia Josephine
Anastasia Miriam

Anastasia May or Fay sound nice together Smile

Wafflenose · 01/03/2011 21:42

My first thought was Anastasia Rose! It just sounds lovely. I'm not sure how common it is as a middle name - certainly not that popular where I live.

Blythe?

Anastasia Mary
Anastasia Frances
Anastasia Laurel
Anastasia Madeleine
Anastasia Constance

One syllable after Anastasia sounds a bit folksy to me. Though it's a long first name, I think it can handle a long second name.

ongakgak · 02/03/2011 19:04

Nell
Storm
Tess

TabithaTwitchet · 02/03/2011 20:13

I do like Anastasia Rose. But maybe a longer middle name would be ok, I just thought it might be a bit of a mouthful. Loads of the longer names suggested are my or siblings or dd1 names or are on our shortlist, so me and my parents must have similar and obvious tastes!

Annie Rose reminds me of the wonderful Shirley Hughes books.
What about Tess?? I loved that name when I was pg with DD but DH thought if she turned out to be on the larger size she may have gotten saddled with the nickname Two Tonne Tessie! I'd never heard of it before.

TabithaTwitchet · 02/03/2011 20:22

True cdm, Annie Rose (and Alfie) are probably dd's favourite literary creations. Tess was our cat's name!
