Is it overused and trendy?

I am looking for a funky unual name. Ziggy got poo poo'd here and I fear Stanley is a bit Alfie!

Is Theo unusual still?

I also quite like Hunter but I know that won't go down well here either :)

It's the nicest out of your options. Depending on where you live you only need to be concerned about pronunciation. What I mean is you may get feo rather than Theo. I like it though.

revoltingrhymes · 25/02/2011 15:41

Oh bugger, I didn't think about the Feo thing.

I dont know any Theos. Its nice Smile

caz05 · 25/02/2011 18:01

I know of 2 Theo's and I like it and it is still unusual.

OliveMalay · 25/02/2011 19:17

I think of it as a bit "trendy middle class". Not enormously unusual in some places. I do like it though, particularly as nickname for Theodore (wouldn't be brave enough to use Theophilus!)

tummytickler · 25/02/2011 20:28

Yawn - Theo is so dull - I know a few of them (at dc's schools) but we had loads born at work last year - I mean LOADS.

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/02/2011 20:29

That is an incredibly rude reply tummytickler. Have you no manners?

SunshineOnARainyDay · 25/02/2011 20:32

Love it - we don't know any. None at the DC's school as far as I know

PeterAndreForPM · 25/02/2011 20:38

TT, I wouldn't stand for that, if I were you Wink

revoltingrhymes · 25/02/2011 21:46

Haha no don't worry, I am after honest opinions.

Maybe a bit popular and trendy for me. I did like Dexter too but I hear that's very up and coming!

bibbitybobbityhat I don't think it was rude at all - why ask for an opinion if you only want to be told that your chosen name is wonderful!
Nobody likes the names on my threads but I don't run away crying - jeez! (Not that I suggest you are sobbing into your hot chocolate because i don't like the name Theo OP Grin )

cath476 · 25/02/2011 21:54

I love it! But then ds3 is Theo so I would. The other two are Max (I know it's popular now but wasn't 9 years ago when we chose it) and Lucas if they are help?

usualsuspect · 25/02/2011 21:57

I like it

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 25/02/2011 22:38

I like it. But I know 2 at DD's very small school. We considered it but decided against it in the end for a few reasons (DH works for probation - gets put off some names by some 'clients') and it sounded a bit funny with our surname. I think it might be a 'trend' name, but that doesn't make it a bad choice.

PanicMode · 01/03/2011 11:06

We have a Theo(dore). It was unusual when we chose it (almost 7 years ago) but now with that pesky footballer, there are FAR more of them around. I still love it though.

meditrina · 01/03/2011 14:02

The footballer means it isn't a poncy name any more. I can only think of two in RL and (one aged about 50 and the other 9).

I like it.

CPtart · 01/03/2011 14:21

I know one. Nice name. How about Sonny, know one of those too!

nurseblade · 01/03/2011 14:22

I like Hunter

tammytoby · 01/03/2011 15:12

I know lots of little Theos and consequently find it a little dull. It is certainly not 'unusual' anymore!

From your choices I quite like Dexter. Or how about Quentin, Felix or Thaddeus?

rachel234 · 01/03/2011 15:17

Agree that Theo has become quite 'trendy' over the past 1-2 years and I too know quite a few little Theos. I'd avoid it for that reason if you're after a classic less over-used name.

evamummy · 01/03/2011 15:24

The footballer has made it too trendy imo.

NorkyButNice · 01/03/2011 15:30

DS is a 3 year old Theo - he's at his 3rd nursery now due to us moving and there have never been any others so it's certainly not THAT popular here on the Kent/London border.

Unless all the other Theo's are at home with their SAHP

We do have the 'Feo' problem though.

Whelk · 01/03/2011 20:38

I love it. Theodore is my favourite name because it can be shortened to Theo or Ted.
