Worst spelling of perfectly ordinary names? Elyviya anyone?

I have met a Danyal, Daniol, Naiphthan, Caytie and an Alivia. Why do people consign their children to a life time of 'no, that's Daniel spelt...'? Any equally terrible ones out there?

Niamph - they thought it was the Irish spelling, which is in fact 'Niamh'...

The Arabic spelling of Daniel will be in Arabic letters.

Danyal is a transliteration into the Roman alphabet of the Arabic pronunciation.

Sooo many! But mostly in/from Utah. Alyce, Ayebraham, Cayleb, Alycsaundra, Elcee, Kellee, Flavious, Hyrum, Raychelle... But I think it's actually a cultural/traditional thing for some people in utah.

There was a thread about Whillyham yesterday. Except in this case, the unique spelling belonged to the baby's grandfather, who was kicking off that the baby's name was spelt the more traditional way.

I know a Junita. I thought it was pronounced 'One eeta' but no, it's pronounced 'June eeta'. June for short.

A friend of my friend has an unusual spelling of the name Amber, Amba. I also know a Charley, Jorja, Dafnie, and a Daizie.

Yes, some people use odd spellings of 'proper' names, or completely made up names. Other people don't recognise that some 'odd spellings' are, in fact, 'proper names' Grin
