Girls name needed - quite traditional, and preferably long!

Looking for girls names, pretty, but not too dainty, can include Irish, but not too unusual, and preferably three syllabals as we have a short surname.
What do people think of these....
Juliet
Niamh
Genevieve
Imogen
Sophia
Madeleine
Orlaith
Any other suggestions?
(Only a few weeks into my pregnancy, so plenty of time to decide yet)

I love the names Hannah and Eleanor. My DD2's name is Hannah, we chose it because it apparently means 'gift from god' and also because it reminds us of Hannah Hauxwell who is a strong and determined, hardy and beautiful woman. To be fair though, she doesn't look much like a Hannah, more like a Tilly I would say but her personality is definately alot like a Hannah :-)

I know it's incredibly 70s but I think Melanie is pretty. And actually, whilst in a retro mood I like 50s Pamela (but not Pam). Otherwise, and more classical, Caroline, Catherine, Eleanor and Marianne.

Think if we ever had DD2, which is very unlikely, she would be Adelaide or Miranda. There again she could be Violetta.

I'm getting very scared of Juliet. It is cropping up on MN all too often. I fear it might be the next Olivia.

The winner of the beautiful baby competition in our local paper was Dorothy.

I like Julia (not Juliet).

I like MAdeleine a lot and love the nickname Maddy.

mumtobee · 18/02/2011 20:32

Thank you so much for all the new suggestions. I know Niamh is short, I just really love it! (although, it does go against my requirement for a long name). No idea if it will be a girl - just enjoying thinking about names. Have added Matilda and Oralia to my list.
