Can you help me decide please? Current favourites are Robyn or Niamh, but other suggestions welcome, have to get her registered ASAP! DP likes Grace or Elliot.

hmmm. Love Nancy and quite like Niamh but not together. Nancy Robin is nice but there's something about the two together which isn't completely gelling and I don't knwo why.

Nancy Elliot - sounds good, but a boys name.... hmmm. It still flows well though. She sounds like a writer or an artist.

Nancy Grace - that works well.

ValiumSandwichTime · 03/02/2011 21:43

What about Nancy Maeve instead of Nancy Niamh.

That is like Nancy Niamh but just works SO much better.

BelligerentGhoul · 03/02/2011 21:46

Nancy Niamh doesn't work at all well imho.

Elliot as a boys' name is v v odd - not over-fond of it even as a boys' name tbh.

Robyn not working for me either, though I love Robin for a boy.

Sorry - not helping much am I?

I think you need something a bit longer and more flowery to go with Nancy which is a 'no messing' sort of name and thus needs a bit of prettification to follow:

Nancy Hermione
Nancy Eloise (nicer than Elliot but similar sound!)
Nancy Arabella
Nancy Isolde
Nancy Isabella

BelligerentGhoul · 03/02/2011 21:47

Maeve is such a lovely name but I feel more syllables are needed! :)

SlightlyTubbyHali · 03/02/2011 21:47

Elliot is good. I like the contrast as Nancy is very girly and pink.

Elliot stops it being too sweet.

Like Robyn as well, for the same reason.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 03/02/2011 21:52

I have a Nancy.

Her middle names are Madeleine Pearl.

frankenfanny · 03/02/2011 21:53

Hmm. Pretty flowery names are not really us, but Eliza, Rose or Elena have been suggested.

I am getting the message loud and clear about Niamh- pity - it has such a lovely meaning.

Elinor?

nancythenaughtyfairy · 03/02/2011 22:06

My first thought was Elizabeth.

medoitmama · 03/02/2011 22:17

Yes, Rose is nice. Mabel?

pooka · 03/02/2011 22:20

Nancy Helena

WOuld have been ds2 if, well, he hadn't been ds2!

frankenfanny · 03/02/2011 22:35

Ok I love the name Rose but it is the compulsory middle name just now and also makes her sound a bit like a shipSmile.

Helena nice. Can't have Elizabeth and Eliza makes it look like we are only inspired by Musicals. Dp has suggested Elodie...but he still likes Elliot if it makes her sound like a writer!

So, Robyn, Elliot or Helena, or something else?

Don't worry - we have a Joseph as well as a Nancy - all we need is a Dorothy!!

If you like Elliot - do you also Like Ellis?

I think of your list, Helena works best (for me, anyway).

What about Rowan? Just trying to think of 'unflowery' names - but I have a penchant for them so it's quite hard to do!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 03/02/2011 22:49

Merryn?

redllamayellowllama · 03/02/2011 22:52

I have a Nancy Eliza - I love it (obviously Grin). We only got the musical reference after the event (and we're both English teachers).

I like Elliot too.

redllamayellowllama · 03/02/2011 22:56

Oh, our other options were Cate and Edith, but our MW was called Eliza, so we took that to be fate.

LiquoriceLila · 03/02/2011 23:02

I know a Nancy Faith and a Nancy Violet

frankenfanny · 03/02/2011 23:26

I had both Kate and Faith on the list, but had to narrow down somehow. Love the name Merryn but too similar to DD1's.

Nancy Faith
Nancy Elliot
Nancy Robyn
Nancy Helena

Now to choose..

Nancy Ellen?

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 04/02/2011 11:07

Ooh - Nancy Ellen - I rather like that, myself. I wonder why I didn't think of that when I named my Nancy (Ellen was my Grandmothers mn, too...)?

letsblowthistacostand · 04/02/2011 13:33

You know, I really like Nancy Robyn. It has a nice rythm, it's simple and sweet. I'd go for Robyn or Elliot.

walesblackbird · 04/02/2011 13:36

Elin - I have a Nancy Elin!!

DownyEmerald · 04/02/2011 13:45

I do think it needs either one syllable or three. Two Two - Nancy Robyn - for eg just sounds wrong. I don't like the rhythm.

Nancy and Helena are quite similar names?

Nancy Kate sounds like a boat.

I like Nancy Grace most.

HairyToedHobbit · 04/02/2011 13:48

We have a Nancy Edith but Rose, Eliza or Ellen were also considered.

frankenfanny · 04/02/2011 14:44

So many Nancys Smile.I have put a pic on my profile if you want to see what suits this one!

I like all your suggestions, but have to narrow it down somehow. I like plain 2 syllable names so it is hard for me to choose others... think I had Georgina and Rosealie at one point.
