Harry? How many do you know?

I really like this name but suspect it's in the top 20, still, I like it. Maybe not as popular as Archie / Alfie? I feel it "goes" well with my daughters name of Daisy & works with the triple syllable surname. I'd be interested to hear opinions or other suggestions!

I only know one, and he is mine Smile. He is 2 years old and I've not heard of any others older or younger than him at any toddler groups or at nursery.

Its a lovely nme.

Aw! Great to hear that 5 elves! I've looked at so many boys names, many in the more unusual category but I find I keep coming back to this one! Thanks!

7? That's a lot! I remember some of your childrens names from previous posts I married a frog! & they're great names & I suspect less common than most which I love! Argh! Pregnancy brain only adds to my indecision...

i teach quite a few - secondary teacher in middle class town

zonkin · 22/12/2010 22:49

I know five Harrys - oldest 7, youngest 2. Know two Archies and one Alfie. Like all of the names but the popularity would put me off

CharlieBoo · 22/12/2010 22:54

I know 3, aged 14, 6 and 2. I really really like it and it goes lovely with Daisy....

PS I have a dd called Daisy and my son is called Charlie...

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 22/12/2010 23:04

3 but it's a lovely name.

BuntyPenfold · 23/12/2010 01:27

zillions, sorry, they grow on trees round here.

LionessLady · 23/12/2010 01:34

Four. But they're all in my family (Great Grandpa, Grandpa, Uncle and Cousin). Grin I don't know any outside of mine - none in my children's schools or anything. If you love the name, go for it! And if you are still worried about it being too popular, perhaps Henry, but Harry for short (like my Great Grandpa and Grandpa)?.

5ElvesMooningSanta · 23/12/2010 09:40

I think it depends on the area you live as well. I live in the NE and there are dozens of Alfies, never heard of any Archies and so far I've not heard any Harrys.

rachel234 · 23/12/2010 10:07

There are loads here in Surrey too... along with lots of Alfies, Archies, Charlies... It seems these 'cutesy' -ie type names are still very popular.

I know loads - all under 3. Round here it's the no.1 name as far as I can tell. Probably more than 10% of DS's friends are either Harry or James.

But it's popular because it's good...!

Highlandgirl · 23/12/2010 10:57

Last year 5951 Harry's (making it 3rd in the ratings) were born in England and Wales and in Scotland it come 19th with 276 born.

FYI: Alfies was 4th in Eng and Wales.

Not sure if that helps...?? Guess it's down to were you live? Xmas Grin

hatsybatsy · 23/12/2010 11:20

i know 3 - they are 5, 4 and 1

only know 2 acrhies and no alfies

am not overly keen to be honest - have yet to be convinced that it's a name that suits a grown man...

tebbles · 23/12/2010 11:56

I really like it but do not use it is you are at all likely to move to the States as there it becomes ' Hairy".

swanandduck · 23/12/2010 12:35

I know two Harrys. One of them is my father, the other is aged two.

pommedeterre · 23/12/2010 12:39

16 year old and 2 year old.

CoteDAzur · 23/12/2010 16:43

Just one and he is 3.

BlitzenAndCupidsSleighDodger · 23/12/2010 16:45

Two, one is 5 and the other is a springer spaniel. Xmas Grin

nannynobblystockingnobs · 23/12/2010 16:47

Two at DD2's nursery, two in DD1's school year, and my cousin's gorgeous little baby son.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/12/2010 16:48

One who is 13, one is DD's pre-school and a Harrison who is known as Harry who will be in the year below her at school. So not too many.

If you love the name then go for it.

Nightstar · 23/12/2010 16:49

I know four, but two of them are called Harrison

LoneRanger4 · 23/12/2010 16:55

Ive got a fabulous Harry aged 15. Work in a school office, 4 more Harrys at school all under 8.
