What do you think of Florence? The only response from family has been a raised eyebrows!

Any other suggestions most welcomed!

Florence Fox sounds good to me. If thats the name you like stick with it.

MrsHypDip · 06/12/2010 15:46

Hey what a coincidence, my sis in law is Katrina Fox and her daughter is Rosie Fox and my cousin is Samantha!! Grin

AbsofLatkes · 06/12/2010 15:49

You could use Lisa - it means Fox in Russian (if you're tempted by that route). May have lots of Russian speakers sniggering though

MerryMarigold · 06/12/2010 16:07

How about Cecily?

Komondor · 06/12/2010 17:42

Love Penelope Fox.

MsFox · 06/12/2010 19:05

Still not seeing any I like.

Is Florence Fox really bad, or just a bit?!

PlanetEarth · 06/12/2010 19:16

I like Miranda Fox, but could become Randy Fox...

PlanetEarth · 06/12/2010 19:17

Florence Fox is a bit of a tongue-twister for me, somehow.

Hulababy · 06/12/2010 19:20

I think Florence Fox is a little hard to say, although I do adore the nae Florence.

DD's friend ahs the same surname and she is Phoebe - whoch although the same f soun, seems to work easier.

Hulababy · 06/12/2010 19:23

PlanetEarth - agree; I end up with Florence Flox

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/12/2010 19:26

Unfortunately for me it increases the likelihood of distorting the vowel in the surname. I want to rhyme the "fox" bit with the "rence" bit. So it becomes Florence Fxx/Fux which isn't really very nice!

I feel like I know Hermione Fox - think that is a lovely name.

thisisyesterday · 06/12/2010 19:27

i think Florence Fox is lovely!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/12/2010 19:27

florentsfocs - think that's why it's so hard. Too many consonant sounds together.

WildPansy · 06/12/2010 19:36

I share Elephants' view on this it's the consonants in Florence Fox which make it feel like it's only one step away from a tongue-twister. I knew a Charlotte with the same surname, and I think that's fine it's the 'ntsf' which is hard work.

Hulababy · 06/12/2010 19:47

Other names I like:
Matilda
Martha
Hermione
Lily
Anna
Daisy

MrsHypDip · 06/12/2010 19:54

IME any name that ends in Fox will just be shortened to Foxy anyway!

Miffster · 06/12/2010 19:56

Francesca Fox?

busybusybumblebee · 06/12/2010 20:58

Hermione Fox is so good! Wish my surname was Fox! Xmas Grin

Matilda is good too.

Emmeline
Amelia
Sophia
Eliza
Briony

MsFox · 07/12/2010 07:58

I like Matilda...but then we end up with the Maddy/Mad Fox again?!

I can see what your saying about it sounding like a bit of tongue twister

I do really like Hermione Fox, and would love it on anyone elses child, but I don't think it suits our family IYSWIM. Also I think we'd get alot of "Oh, Harry Potter fans are you?"

We get the "Oh, Beatles fan's are you?" already because of Harrison and George!

OP posts:
MsFox · 07/12/2010 08:05

Plus... Hermione and Harrison...? Really trying to like it, but just can't see it!

OP posts:
thumbplumpuddingwitch · 07/12/2010 09:14

Herry and Harry - or Hermy and Harry - agree, doesn't work.

What about Caroline?
Or Joanna
Michaela

Or if you want to follow the Beatles theme:
Paula Xmas Wink

Tanya
Annabel
