Its a bit too odd.
Greta is sweet but snowdrop is not so great.

Haliborange · 02/11/2010 23:05

Hmm. The snowdrop part is a bit much for me. Holly maybe instead?

Or I do like Gretchen Winter. What d'you think?

smother · 02/11/2010 23:06

ditto - love greta, not sure about snowdrop.... although it is quite sweet in some ways. perhaps you could use it as a nn without actually putting it on her birth cert?

doesn't really flow that well to my ears Greta Snowdrop

apart from anything else. If you want a wintry sounding name, I think something other than snowdrop. Offhand I can't think of anything though

TheNextMrsDepp · 02/11/2010 23:13

Quite cute actually! Love Greta, and Snowdrop works as a middle name. Go for it.

RobynLou · 02/11/2010 23:14

Smile ah well....back to the drawing board...maybe....

she'll be a sister to Martha Rose Lullaby, so we do have a bit of a history of odd names!

OP posts:
anonymosity · 02/11/2010 23:19

Honestly I think Greta is lovely but Snowdrop is the name for a cat.

smother · 03/11/2010 09:05

If she's a sister to Martha Rose Lullaby, why not have snowdrop as a third middle name and give her a 'normal' second middle name... that might soften the blow somehow!

Greta Lynne Snowdrop
Greta Joy Snowdrop

Hmmm, not sure if this works any better...

flopsy1974 · 03/11/2010 09:07

Not keen. Sorry.

FairyArmadillo · 03/11/2010 09:10

It goes with your first daughter's name. But agree with smother. Keep up the theme with three names. I like it, but not as much as I love Martha Rose Lullaby. That's gorgeous.

Highlandgirl · 03/11/2010 09:13

We had a cat called Snowdrop...!

Indith · 03/11/2010 09:24

Greta is lovely. If you want to keep to a winter flower then you could have Iris?, there is a very early flowering variety (though not as early as Jan), Hazel? (for Witch hazel), Jasmine? (winter jasmine). There are quite a few good ideas if you have a look around.

smother · 03/11/2010 09:28

actually I think snowdrop is no worse than bluebell which has become more acceptable since Geri H name her daughter this.

vmcd28 · 03/11/2010 09:31

Ivy
Holly
I like the "Winter" suggestion too
January
Spring?!

smother · 03/11/2010 09:34

Hey, what about

Greta Noella

has a winter/xmas theme and sounds lovely too!

anonymousbird · 03/11/2010 09:38

Nothing wrong with Greta at all, really rather nice.

Snowdrop - err........! Though smother's idea helps to soften it quite nicely.. and then lines up nicely with your other DD's name....

saucetastic · 03/11/2010 09:40

How about Amaryllis as snowdrops are part of the Amaryllidaceae family?

Not keen on the Latin name for snowdrop, Galanthus, but given that you're keen on names with a soft G, it could be ok for you?

POFAKKEDDthechair · 03/11/2010 09:42

Amaryllis rather nice actually.

Haliborange · 03/11/2010 09:55

Or Daphne (means Laurel).

Greta is quite ugly and teutonic and Snowdrop is plain weird.

ZZZenAgain · 03/11/2010 10:19

How do you pronounce Eirlys?
