Baby due any day and these are the 3 names we've decided to take into the delivery room.

I'm just curious to see which is the most popular choice on mn.

Many thanks

Harriet.

Horton · 16/10/2010 19:06

Definitely Harriet. Lovely name. I wish I'd used it myself.

Bunbaker · 16/10/2010 19:07

I love them all, especailly Harriet.

RockBat · 16/10/2010 19:07

I did use it :), it's a great name. Beatrice is on the shortlist for number 2.

SpiderWilliam · 16/10/2010 19:08

Harriet for me too.

Beatrice is nice but there are alot of littles Bea's around I think.

Jemima is cute but doesn't work so well on an adult

Harriet is both cute in its nn potential (Hattie), can sound robust for a more feisty character (Harry) but refined in it's full version too.

HighlandlassinLondonshire · 16/10/2010 19:18

Harriet and Beatrice...!

ghosteditor · 16/10/2010 19:18

I vote Harriet (Hattie is an awesome nickname)

crumpetsolo · 16/10/2010 19:24

Harriet here too - we'd have it if we didn't already know a little Harriet. Love love names that shorten to boys' names like Harry. Jemima is a bit puddle duck, and don't like Jem as a nickname. Beatrice nice, but I think Princess Beatrice.

Tillyscoutsmum · 16/10/2010 19:27

I like all 3 ! Possibly Beatrice is my favourite with Harriet as a close second

lalalonglegs · 16/10/2010 19:37

I like Jemima but they're all a bit Nappy Valley (if you live in certain suburbs of London, you will cause a lot of confusion when you call your daughter in the park). Hope all goes well with the birth.

SE13Mummy · 16/10/2010 19:44

I'd choose Harriet, in fact I did nearly 6 years ago! My Harriet definitely fits the feisty description but goes by Hattie most of the time - she's horrified by the suggestion that in time to come she may wish to call herself Harry/ie!

Occasionally we encounter another Harriet but ours is the only one at her school (of 350+) and at our church. Maybe SE13 isn't the postcode of choice for Harriet-naming parents!

Silkstalkings · 16/10/2010 19:52

Great names, Beatrice and Harriet have been on my shortlists before.

Rhubarbgarden · 16/10/2010 19:58

Harriet. I wanted it but hubby vetoed it because of Harriet Harman.

StrictlyOogieBoogiePumpkin · 16/10/2010 20:07

Wow that's enough to put anyone off Rhubarb!

randomimposter · 16/10/2010 20:14

I LOVE Jemima. Not wild on Harriet, Beatrice is ok.

NothereisnobodylurkingbehindU · 16/10/2010 20:14

I wanted Harriet for dd1 but dh vetoed it for exactly the same Harman reason!
I have a Beatrice - it's a great name though I'm a bit worried about how often it's coming on Mumsnet!

AndOnAndOnAndOn · 16/10/2010 20:14

Jemima

They're all nice though

jinglesticks · 16/10/2010 20:19

Well done for thinking of 3 great names! I like Harriet best (It'd be "Harriette" for me I think). And Hattie is lovely for short.

TigersChick · 16/10/2010 20:44

I love Harriet - nn Hattie - it was on our short list and I now teach a lovely one. I only know one other young Harriet, who is a Harry.
Also like Beatrice (not Beatrix, as in Potter)
Not fussed about Jemima; agree with SpiderWilliam - not so great as an adult.

Hope all goes well Smile

josette · 16/10/2010 20:46

Beatrice is beautiful and would have been my ds's name if he had been a dd. It was my grandmother's name and i wish that it had been popular in the 70s when my mum had to name me.
Jemima and Harriet are also nice names. Well done for having such a great short list!

Flossiebelle · 16/10/2010 21:22

Harriet and Beatrice - all lovely names. We were considering both of these but opted for Martha in the end - Hope all goes well with choosing the name Smile

clarabellarocks · 16/10/2010 21:38

We're plumping for Beatrice - none up in Yorkshire that we know of, think more popular in London but that doesn't bother us.

Love Harriet - Hetty fab nn.

telsa · 16/10/2010 21:50

Jemima is loveliest. Others are don't like much, especially Harriet.

flopsy1974 · 17/10/2010 17:13

Beatrice is lovley.

tennisgirl · 17/10/2010 17:23

Beatrice - can be BB when she is older or just B

Harriet gets shortend to Harry.

Jemima is a duck anyway you look at it.

I am sure you will look at your little girl and instantly know the right name.
