Middle name for Claudia

GloomyTubeNosedBat · 14/10/2010 17:03

DH wants Amelie which I like but then her initials would be CAC, which I don't like for obvious reasons.

Need a name like Louise but can't have that as it's dd1's middle name. Any bright ideas anyone?

Rose
Mary
I am stuck as all the ones I think of seem to begin with A!!

FrameyMcFrame · 14/10/2010 17:09

Rachael
Hephzibah

Something with two syllables would work.

Runoutofideas · 14/10/2010 17:14

Claudia Charlotte - although is CCC a problem?
Claudia Elizabeth
Claudia Emily (instead of Amelie)
Claudia Imogen
Claudia Kate/Katherine

Any good?

MentalFloss · 14/10/2010 17:15

Ideas:
Emilie/Emily (Could get around the A issue
Lena
Grace
Beatrice
Lucy
Ruby
Joan
Jane
Lola
Michelle
Elizabeth

Claudia Irene

JamieLeeCurtis · 14/10/2010 17:24

I love Claudia

And middle name has to be Jane

(CJ from the West Wing)

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 14/10/2010 17:26

Jane immediately came to mind with me too; I think it has to be something with one syllable, because Claudia has three & it will balance.

beccagrace2 · 14/10/2010 17:34

we have claudia josephine, age 7 months, as she was born in our house, st josephs! love her name sooo much, but had never heard it before and since feb it seems to be cropping up here a bit. not in real life tho!!

love claudia jane too

beccagrace2 · 14/10/2010 17:35

infact i have just noticed the first 2 name threads are both my daughters names!

Silkstalkings · 14/10/2010 20:59

OK, what's the problem with CAC?Blush

Claudia Juliana was the first thing that sprung to my mind, keeping in the Latin theme.

KatnKankles · 14/10/2010 22:58

I have wanted a Claudia since I had dd1 12 years ago... I now have 3 dds and have not been allowed one :(

My Claudia would have been Claudia Rose :o

Am pregnant with DC 5 now... maybe if it's a girl I will get my Claudia :)

GloomyTubeNosedBat · 15/10/2010 09:11

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

I also thought of Claudia Imogen but DH said Imogen sounds like a cleaning product (I despair sometimes I really do).

Claudia Elizabeth is a definite possibility.

I don't think he's going to go for Hephzibah tho.

Claudia Jane?

(are you aware of the meaning of Claudia?)

DandyDan · 15/10/2010 10:02

Claudia Ruth?

batsforlashes · 15/10/2010 10:40

JamieLee- LOL: My DD is Claudia and was very nearly Claudia Jean for that very reason. Quite possibly one of my favourite tv characters of all time.

We decided in the end to go with Claudia Grace.

annoyingdevil · 15/10/2010 11:14

What does it mean? I'm intrigued. I have always loved Claudia. DP vetoed it, so I kept it for the cat

GloomyTubeNosedBat · 15/10/2010 11:48

Claudia means "lame" or "crippled", but only because of the Emperor Claudius who was supposedly crippled. But long-dead Roman blokes with limps aren't really featuring in my considerations on name choices.

"Claudia" is also the name of an ancient Roman people - I don't think all of them had limps. And it certainly hasn't done Claudia Schiffer any harm!!

If you've ever studied Latin, you may know that Claudus means lame, disabled. So any name derived from Claudus e.g. Claudia or Claudio will have the same root and meaning.

This may or may not bother you (or your daughter, more importantly).

mopsyflopsy · 15/10/2010 12:56

It is a shame about the meaning, but it would bother me (but I've also studied Latin, so can't get away from the meaning).

If you still go for it, I like Claudia Rose best.

DandyDan · 15/10/2010 13:11

I've also studied Latin and can totally get away from the meaning. It's a very pretty name.

MentalFloss · 15/10/2010 17:06

Ooh! Just seen you're thinking of Elizabeth, it is a lovely classic name as is Claudia.

Don't worry about the meaning, it is a beautiful name!

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 15/10/2010 17:10

Wasn't it Claudia Jean on West Wing?

Then you could call her CJ :)

Lovely name. Was quite popular in Germany a few years ago.

Would you pronounce it Clawdia or Cloudia?

GloomyTubeNosedBat · 16/10/2010 09:57

it would be pronounced Cloud-ia by half the family and Clawdia by the English half! Never heard of the West Wing - assume it's a TV programme. Is she a nice Claudia?
