So, what do you think of:

Camille
Rosa
Annabelle/Arabella (dh likes one, i like the other)
Isabella (very popular - no?)

Any think else you could add in the same vein?

Poor DD2 is destined to be Bubba forever!

"I would love bella as a first name but with our surname she would sound list a pasta/coffee chain! (not italian but sounds it)."

Then, IMO, Is A Bella is going to sound worse.

I know you are trying to be supportive soupy, but I don't think he is being a twat, it's just the name for me isnt the name for him. He can't help not liking it, & to be fair he has said 'if you really want to call her that...etc' but I don't know that I could use a name he doesn't like, labour or not!

The tears have come btw, last night the 'blues' hit! I had congratulated myself on bypassing them so (day 3 like clockwork with dd1), but last night had that uncontrollable sobbing!

Louisa??

Bumperlicious · 27/09/2010 09:20

We have come toba tentative agreement on Rose, Rose Matilda. Just trying it out for an hour or so. Dd1 not happy. She wants 'just Bubba' (pregnancy name & the name for the last week) :)

rewardgirl · 27/09/2010 09:26

Please don't call your child Bubba... ;)
I love Rosa.

thirtysomething · 27/09/2010 09:28

I adore the name Camille - isn't it both a girls' name and a boys' name in France?

Also adore Isabella. Who cares of it's popular now...Both of my DC have names in top 20 but has never caused us any probs.

Bumperlicious · 27/09/2010 09:28

DH won't go for Rosa (too gypsy like Hmm), but we have compromised on Rose and I am happy. Every time I thought of another name I wanted to cry!

i like Arabella

hollyoaks · 27/09/2010 09:36

We must have similar tastes, love Rose/Rosa, but can't have it with our surname.

Have an Isabella and another with Annabel as a middle name and Matilda was on our short list.

Rose Matilda sounds lovely, congratulations :)

ZacharyQuack · 27/09/2010 09:40

If you call her Rose, you could secretly call her Rosa Wink

seeker · 27/09/2010 09:42

I LOVE Rose Matilda!

But I still think Camilla Rose is lovely too.

SoupDragon · 27/09/2010 10:49

Sorry, Bumper, but that's how you seemed to be portraying him with his "I haven't decided" and then "no".

Rose is lovely :)

Bumperlicious · 27/09/2010 11:19

That's ok, he really isn't a twat, he is fab, just being a PITA, but he has a right to have a name he likes too. He would have done it if I had really wanted him too, but I couldn't do it like that, I was hoping he would just come around himself. However we are both really liking Rose and so is he, so all is well.

Ah ha - here's the thread then Grin

I see what you mean!!!! LOL

How firm is Rose? (I like it more than Rosa).

Have you considered Ruby?

Grin
bumpybecky · 27/09/2010 12:58

I've got an Isabel Rose :) but Isabel(le)/a is so very common I think you'd be better off avoiding it

I love Matilda :) have you thought of Matilda Rose? Rose Matilda sounds just a tiny bit like an entry from a gardening catalogue to me...

Bumperlicious · 27/09/2010 13:19

Right, it is very definitely Rose Matilda, Dh and I both very happy. DD1 less so and is resolutely sticking with Bubba.

So, all other names are off the table! Don't throw any more at me!

I can cope with her sounding like an entry from a gardening catalogue. The worst description of DD1's name on here has been like sanitary wear Grin (won't say what it is though, as it's unusual enough to out me if my enemies were to search Grin). I do have good taste really!

Fantastic news. It must be a relief to have decided.

Rose Matilda is a lovely name.

bumpybecky · 27/09/2010 13:39

well done on making a decisions :)

it took us about 10 days with dd1!

Fimbo · 27/09/2010 14:08

Well done Smile

Bumperlicious · 27/09/2010 14:08

glad it's not just us who took so long. it was getting embarrassing & stressful!

OP posts:
bumpybecky · 27/09/2010 14:15

in our defence dd1 didn't really look like a Luke Simon Hmm it took us a while to work through girls names, we'd been so sure she was a boy we'd not got a shortlist before she arrived

we didn't take quite as long with her siblings :)

ChippingIn · 27/09/2010 14:48

There are several countries around the world where the baby is called the equivalent of bubba for the first year - until they decide on a name depending on their character... so don't feel bad. I'm sure Rose will be happy to know that her name was well thought out & both her parents like it :)

JaynieB · 27/09/2010 21:31

Congratulations! And hello to Rose Matilda.

MissHavishamsDress · 28/09/2010 05:42

Ooh I prefer Rose to Rosa - congratulations!

We swapped dd's two names around at 7 months - it does take a while!! no regrets now at all.
Good luck with it all!

What is her final name - do let us know!

MissHavishamsDress · 28/09/2010 05:43

Oh yes, Rose Matilda. Lovely Smile
