I thought it seemed pretty and not too popular or unusual?

No. Diorrhea (can never spell it).

Rhea

Enormous fluffy bird. Not a good association.

posey · 17/09/2010 21:34

spiderlight have no idea but I loved it, esp Russell Grin

CurlyCasper · 17/09/2010 21:34

I know one. She is lovely.

But does get called diar... now and then.

proudfoot · 17/09/2010 21:43

Don't like it at all, sorry.

Every Rhea I've ever known has been a right cow, which really put me off (just in case the diorrhea thing wasn't enough!)

Ria looks slightly better but still sounds the same.

I like Thea.

fishingfilly · 17/09/2010 22:08

My Niece of 20 is called Rhea spelt this way as well....she is the most beautiful girl so I vote 10/10 got for it!!!!!! Smile

WetAugust · 17/09/2010 22:10

Don't be daft -it;s a type of large bird!

If you've got to do it spell it Ria. I've met a Ria.

brimfull · 17/09/2010 22:15

My Mum is Rea ..I love it but she's never been keen ..nothing to do with diarrhoea though, she lives in Canada and they find it a weird name there and always query it .

puffling · 17/09/2010 22:20

I taught 2 of them in one class, one Ria and one Rhea. They were both orange and badly behaved.

puffling · 17/09/2010 22:21

A Rhea is a grey flightless bird, a bit like an ostrich.

TessOfTheBurbs · 17/09/2010 22:33

Ria looks nicer. It also doesn't remind me of "rear" even though it sounds the same. Spelt Ria, I can take it or leave it.

vess · 17/09/2010 23:24

I like it.
How about Rea?
Here's a nicer assosiation with the name:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhea_Silvia

Sunlightdances · 17/09/2010 23:51

I was at school with a Rhea, and she got called Dier-Rhea and also Rhea Rend. And this was just at primary school, so I dread to think what secondary school was like.

I'm sorry you've only had negative responses to your idea! It has a pretty sound, but will result in teasing by dimwits.

planetalice · 18/09/2010 19:31

I know a Ria and have always thought its a lovely name.

A1980 · 18/09/2010 20:26

In medicine Rhea is a suffix meaning flow or discharge!

Please don't call a child that.

LiquoriceLila · 18/09/2010 21:25

I like it.. Definitely prefer it spelt as Ria though

Caro1302 · 18/09/2010 22:43

I love Rhea, it's a beautiful name. I wouldn't worry about the gonorrhea link- I have a Lydia and was slightly worried about a link to chlamydia but it hasn't been an issue- or if it has no one has been rude enough to mention it in front of me.

jellybeans · 18/09/2010 23:03

just reminds me of 'rear'

fruitshootsandheaves · 18/09/2010 23:04

Its OK as long as you don't have a DS called Connor

cece · 18/09/2010 23:04

I like it but would spell it Ria myself. The other spelling makes me think of a bird (or am I dreaming that?)

sophieandbelly · 20/09/2010 08:06

not keen!

booboobeedoo · 20/09/2010 13:37

I met a Ria the other day. Love the name. She said it was from the Spanish for river -Rio for boys, Ria for girls.

DandyDan · 20/09/2010 14:07

My son has a good friend called Rhea. Great name: Greek "mother of the Gods". The etymology of 'rhea' might also mean "ground" or "pomegranate", as well as 'rush or flow".

EffieB · 20/09/2010 17:08

I knew a lovely Rhea a few years back. I really like it as a name- the connotations didn't happen when I met her (think that's more when you hear the word rather than meet a person). I thought it was a short, rather cool name actually.

DastardlyandSmugly · 20/09/2010 17:23

I like it.
