Hi there,

We have a Logan, Autumn, Ocean and are now trying to think of another name that will go nicely.

We are trying to keep with the nature theme and also wondering if we need another 'n' name??

We are going round in circles and getting nowhere. The only names we have come up with are:

Beauden for a boy
Summer for a girl.
Sedona (we got married there).

All probably not right though - Beauden ?, Summer with Autumn probably too contrived and Sedona sounds like 'donor' plus it's a car.

Would so love any thoughts.

Wow! Thanks for all these wonderful suggestions - will go through them with dh tonight : ) One that does really appeal is Luna - I love that name - but surely it is just too like 'looney'? Has nobody thought of this - it comes to my mind immediately and I wouldn't like to be found shouting 'looney' in the supermarket aisles!

It sounds a lot more like "lunar" but that's ok - loony means someone who goes crazy at full moon anyway doesn't it? I think it's a lovely name - there's a character called this in Harry Potter and the actress who plays her is really lovely.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 24/08/2010 22:07

...As long as your surname isn't "Tick"

someone had to say it Grin

arizonagirl · 25/08/2010 00:23

Just wondering where those of you who like the name 'Luna' live ie. if you are in the UK. I am still curious whether it is just me who associates Luna with 'Loony' - and whether this is an English problem. Not sure it would have the same connotations in the States? Just curious as me and dh really do like this name but have this niggle. Thanks again.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/08/2010 00:39

Well I'm in the UK. But if you think it's too like loony, don't use it.

EmmaRoyd · 25/08/2010 00:54

Rowan or saffron

CheerfulYank · 25/08/2010 01:26

We don't use the term "loony" much in the States, at tleast not the part I'm from. HTH

Still like Indigo. I'm just sayin... :) Phoenix is nice too, I've got a friend who has a DD named Clover and she plans on using Phoenix if her next one is a boy.

mathanxiety · 25/08/2010 16:36

Soleil?

Artemis and Deva have moon associations.

Hullygully · 25/08/2010 16:38

Bracken
Peat
Pampas
Soyle

Habbibu · 25/08/2010 16:40

Broxden is a big roundabout to me... Love Rowan - it was almost ds's name.

ValiumSingleton · 25/08/2010 19:58

lol at boden!

I like Gale, Rain, Leaf, Skye and Joy.

Normally I'd say yes to Summer, but not with an Autumn as well.

Sedona is nice, although it reminds me of Cidona..non alcoholic Cider.

ValiumSingleton · 25/08/2010 19:59

ps, I like Dale for a girl, but I wouldn't use it for a boy.

LiquoriceLila · 25/08/2010 20:32

River ? I love that name

arizonagirl · 25/08/2010 22:09

Hmmm, lots of great thoughts. Love Soleil - but dh is probably right by pointing out that no-one will ever be able to spell it. Like Rowan or Ronan - dh not so keen. Do really like River but with an Ocean - looks like we are taking the mick! Skye is nice. Do like Indigo - not nickname Indie so much though. And damn, I still like Beau but it sounds ridiculous with our surname and I know, I know... Beauden is out (even though on another forum I noticed how much everyone liked it : / ) Think we are getting somewhere though thanks to you wonderful people : )

Beaumont for boy, Bellemont for girl? Elody or Melody? Though not very nature sounding.

mathanxiety · 26/08/2010 00:55

Elodie means marsh or summat.

MrsCrafty · 26/08/2010 01:18

Lana

MrsCrafty · 26/08/2010 01:21

Sedona might bring on taunts of I 'sedona do that or your brain will fall out'.

Sorry, I am not very imaginative but I do understand the importance of naming your child. You want a distisguished but lovely and different name, yet you need to feel that your little one actually looks like that person.

I bet you call them Joan or Andrew, I can see it now. Lol Grin

I'm American and Luna was my suggestion (yes, I'm looking for the credit!! :) ) "Looney" in the States means the same thing it does in the UK but it's a pretty old-fashioned word now so I don't think it would be foremost in the mind of anyone in the schoolyard. I didn't know about the Harry Potter connection - I got the name from the moon character in 'Bear in the Big Blue House'!

I think you could go crazy thinking about all the things your child might be called in school. There was a girl in my class called Eileen and everyone used to go "Eileen to the left, Eileen to the right, Eileen over too far and fall down!" Sounds silly now but it wasn't funny to poor Eileen at the time! Point being that any name is fair game for making fun when kids are involved.

I think your other kids' names are great, by the way, and best of luck with this new little addition!

cloudydays · 28/08/2010 23:36

Oh and Lulu is a cute nickname, as is Lou when she's older, if she's the kind of chick that can pull it off... Both would sound better than Looney in the supermarket aisles :)
