But Crackhor IS the more unusual...

Adair · 30/07/2010 19:54

I wouldn't worry too much about unusual/unique - our daughter has v unusual name but we met another in the local park. Who knows if a celeb will nick your choice, or they'll use it on Eastenders? Pick a name you love and if it's unusual, well, great.

Haliborange · 30/07/2010 19:55

I like those countries where you name your child something you want for them in life. You know, wisdom, hope, kindness, thankful.
Why don't you just cut to the chase and call yours "Unique"? Job done.

What does "MUB" mean?

I want something known, but not overly used and still pretty. And not plain silly.

Names I like are:

Aoife
Darcy
Rhia
Demi
Madison
Taya
Skye

OP posts:
zenoushka · 31/07/2010 10:24

Ariana.

plonker · 31/07/2010 15:17

There are a number of Rhia's/Rias (too close to 'rear' for my liking) round these parts (NW England).

I also know a fair few Darcy's, Demi's, Madison's and Skye's. So the only ones I would class as unusual (as in not usually heard) on your list would be Aoife and Taya

I agree that to find something unique you're better going back to something like Jane, Susan, Gillian, Sharon etc.

Colliecross · 31/07/2010 16:54

Janferie - an old form of Genevieve
Maidlin - ditto Madeleine

mathanxiety · 31/07/2010 17:02

There's a girl in my DS's year in school called La-a, pronounced Ladasha.

I kid you not.

Helokitty · 31/07/2010 17:02

I agree that looking at a more common, but currently underused name is possibly the way to go.

DD1 is Eloise - most people comment on how unusual it is, but we still know another one and I know of another little Eloise too.

DD2 is Katherine - a much more classic sort of name, but we do not know of any Little Katherines at the mo, and I have never bumped into any little Katherines about either - whereas we have met the odd Eloise every now and again.

So the more 'common' name is actually the one where we have met fewer children!
