  1. Rose (not keen on Rosie as the name on the birth cert but would be good as a nickname)
  2. Martha
  3. Alice
jaffacake2 · 24/07/2010 21:04

My daughter is Rosemary Alice (Rosie as a little child, now Rose as a teen)

Meaning of the names are kind (Alice) herb (Rosemary) which kind of suits her!

Mollydoggerson · 24/07/2010 21:27

Martha

TheNextMrsDepp · 24/07/2010 21:29

Martha.

My arch enemy at school was called Alice, and I've never liked the name since....

thislittlesisterlola · 24/07/2010 21:32

alice beautiful name second would be rosie

Helokitty · 24/07/2010 22:43
  1. Martha. Gorgeous name.
  2. Alice. Okay, but a bit boring.
  3. Rosie. Just naff on an adult.

However, if you went for Rose, then I think I would put Rose above Alice. Rose is classy and sophisticated.

Alice

BikeRunSki · 24/07/2010 22:53

Alice

...but I am one!

Actually, my vote is for Martha.

SoMuchToBits · 24/07/2010 23:06

Alice first

Then Rosie, but as a shortened form of Rosemary/Rosalind/Rosamund/Rosalie etc

Then Martha

CreepyFunbags · 24/07/2010 23:06

Alice, Rosie, Martha.

rotool · 24/07/2010 23:13

Rosie
Martha at 16 might not thankyou!!

LynetteScavo · 24/07/2010 23:16

They are all lovely names. I think you should have a look when baby pops out and see which one suits best.

Today, I think I like Martha best.

Alice! It's my DD's name and I still love it!

birdofthenorth · 26/07/2010 13:31

Alice is lovely, though I like Rosie a lot too.

zozzle · 26/07/2010 14:27

Like them all equally

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 26/07/2010 14:39

All lovely names, but it depends how original you're wanting to be. Every other baby girl at some of the groups I did with DD seem to have been Martha or Alice, and there were a few Rosie's, too. So how about Marissa, Alicia or Rosalie?

polkadottytotty · 26/07/2010 14:41

Martha

DastardlyandSmugly · 26/07/2010 14:48

Martha is my favourite by quite a long way.

twolittlemonkeys · 26/07/2010 14:50

I vote for Martha. There are so many Alices around at the moment. I agree Rosie needs to be a shortened version of something a bit more formal.

weaselm4 · 26/07/2010 17:28

Hi smother, perhaps rotool doesn't know of any teenage Marthas? I'm hoping my Martha will be OK with it (although her middle name's Phoebe which I guess she could use if she really objects!).

First thing my HV said when I brought my daughter to her was "Martha, fantastic name - I've got one. She's 19 now" So older Marthas are around! (As well as Martha Jones from Doctor Who, who I thought was waaaay cooler than Rose )

weaselm4 · 26/07/2010 17:29

I should also add that I know a grown-up Rosie as well, and it suits her fine - doesn't seem like a little girl's name at all.
