Dulcie
Jessica
Charlotte
Florence

We love them and cannot decide, although Florence is proably bottom of the list due to Flo being used as a nn.

So what do you think of the names?
Do you like them?
What are your impressions of the names?

I love them all exept Jessica, what about Florie as a nn for Florence?

Mollydoggerson · 15/07/2010 12:00

I like Jessica and Charlotte, I prefer Francesca to Florence and I'm not familiar with Dulcie, so it'll take a while for it to sink in before I could say yay or nay.

scurryfunge · 15/07/2010 12:01

Florence is great, Florrie could be a nn.

theagedparent · 15/07/2010 12:02

Dulcie is by far the best, beautiful name.

scurryfunge · 15/07/2010 12:02

sorry missed 4andnotout's post

seeker · 15/07/2010 12:02

Florence nn Floss?

Don't like Dulcie because it soulda like an abbreviation already (is is?)

Jessica and Charlotte are both fab and bhave good shortenings.

Seeker I think I read on MN a couple of longer versions of Dulcie but on nameberry.com it stands as alone as a name, meaning sweet

Dulcie is by far the nicest........go for it

I think Florence is far too overused and I just don;t like it or any of the nn's

Jessica and Charlotte are ok, Jess and Lottie for nn's.

Hedwig3 · 15/07/2010 14:08

Dulcie gets my vote.

KAEKAE · 15/07/2010 14:23

Florence is my fav, wanted it for DD but it rhymes with our surname. I don't like Dulcie and not overally fussed on Jessica or Charlotte.

love jessica and charlotte
actively dislike dulcie
not keen on florence

WinkyWinkola · 15/07/2010 14:29

Jessica and Charlotte are so popular right now. They're nice but predictable.

Florence. Florence is an amazing name.

I wonder if a lot haven't heard of Dulcie and will think we have made it out

Chathappy · 15/07/2010 21:36

I love Dulcie also

grumpypumpkin · 15/07/2010 21:40

Ooh love Dulcie, think its very 1950s glam and would have on my list if DH liked it.
Only disadvantage is that its a bit similar to made up names like Darcy, but I think its more granny chic and most people will know its not made up.
Others too popular for my tastes.

Just13moreyearstogo · 15/07/2010 21:46

To me, Dulcie is an 'old lady's' name making a comeback, like Maude, Mabel or Elsie.

I really like Charlotte.

nigglewiggle · 15/07/2010 21:46

I vote for Dulcie too. I'd be surprised if anyone thought it was made up. It is a lovely name.

LaRagazzaInglese · 15/07/2010 21:55

In order of preference:
Dulcie - lovely pretty name and meaning, not too popular or overused
Charlotte - classic and timeless, feminine but without being frilly
Florence - romantic, nice nn's flossie etc
Jessica - am trying to think of something positive to say but it's just not my taste, sorry.

p.s is Darcy really made up? i heard it came from the french surname 'D'Arcy' as in, from the town of Arcy, or another origin was irish, meaning 'dark one' ? ?

bytheMoonlight · 16/07/2010 14:03

I like '1950s glam'

LOVE Decca as a nn for Jessica.

CharlieBoo · 16/07/2010 14:41

Dont like Dulcie at all.
Jessica - ok
Charlotte - Love Lottie as nn
Florence - love it

tulip27 · 16/07/2010 14:45

I love Florence. DD has a Florencia at her pre school ( parents are Italian). She is Florrie for short.

superpenguin · 16/07/2010 15:02

I have never heard of the name Dulcie before.

Colliecross · 16/07/2010 16:57

Dulcie - that little girl tap dancer with frilly knickers (Noel Streatfeild)
