Would anyone be interested in knitting me a all-in-one baby wrap?

Hello,

I would like to buy a baby wrap or cocoon to use to pop a newborn baby into for photographs. Quite a few people make them in the States for photographers, but I haven't found anyone who sells them here.

If anyone might be interested I can link to some pictures, and I've found a link for a pattern if necessary.

Bumping for you.

What about this? I had one for dd, it is beautiful and I still use it now as it is big and such a warm blanket.

I know it is expensive but it wouldn't be that much cheaper to knit one as wool is very dear, and acrillic is not nice to have near a babies skin.

Thank you Puzzle.

This is the lonk to the pattern, though I think other people have just made it from a slightly amended hat pattern:

X-posted. I like that WheretheWildThingsWere. Will have a think... I would still be interested in the baby cocoon as they are quite unique looking for pictures, and the snugness of them can apparently soothe some fractious babies.

Wow that cocoon is gorgeous.

brokenrecord · 13/01/2009 13:19

Yes, and it's not the best picture of one. I'm not sure how practical they are for really putting a baby in (I always worry about tiny fingers getting caught up, etc) but they look very sweet in pictures. Will try and find a few more later. (I'm also not sure how much wool they would take, but perhaps not as much as you first thought because of the holes.)

I meant not sure if you could leave a baby in one unattended...

Here is a slightly different one:

here is another link with a download pattern for $3.00
Don't know whether anybody can do that, it is a Ravelry website

brokenrecord · 13/01/2009 17:40

Thanks DutchOma - it's only taking me to the home page of Ravelry. Is it a similar pattern?

Can't see the patterns but it looks like it'd be dead easy to make!

gigglinggoblin · 13/01/2009 17:51

ravelry links you to it on etsy here

I like the other one better, my kids had crochet blankets with big holes in they used to get their fingers in and curl them up. I knit btw, they dont look like they would take long but the bigger cost is prob the wool, nice wool isnt cheap

Molesworth · 13/01/2009 17:55

it's basically a long thin beanie hat, isn't it?

You'd need the finest quality wool, but it would probably take fewer than two balls, so even using silk wouldn't be horribly expensive

brokenrecord · 13/01/2009 18:00

Thank you. I like the holey one best too. Would anyone be interested in giving it a go? (I really can't knit - I know - I've tried.)

OP posts:
brokenrecord · 13/01/2009 18:02

Yes Molesworth - I just found a site with a description of how to adapt a basic hat pattern. I have no idea how one judges sizes for newborns though, so maybe a pattern is good?

Are there any free patterns for this on the web anywhere?

brokenrecord · 13/01/2009 18:09

I have only seen the one I linked to earlier, but I wouldn't mind buying that if I could get it made over here as I think it would still be cheaper and less complicated.

Here is a picture of another favourite of mine:

That one is gorgeous

I'm not an experienced knitter although I think even I could manage to make one of those. I'm hesitant to offer to make one though owing to my lack of experience.

solo · 13/01/2009 18:24

I'll do it for you depending on when you want it for.

solo · 13/01/2009 18:28

Do you want to see some of my creations?

solo · 13/01/2009 18:47

There are some on my profile.

gigglinggoblin · 13/01/2009 18:52

Love the one with the hood. I could easily make up a hat pattern but wouldnt know how long or wide to make it. Could you say what measurements you wanted?

Molesworth · 13/01/2009 18:53

I can't see your profile solo

gigglinggoblin · 13/01/2009 18:54

Pattern would also depend on what wool you wanted to use, do you have something in mind?

solo · 13/01/2009 18:56

Oh! i clicked on it and it was there a minute ago...hang on.

solo · 13/01/2009 19:03

They should be there now.
